It’s available at many different restaurants and the price can range. I went to Trattoria dall’Oste which was awarded top 100 steakhouse in the world. It was €86 but you can definitely find others that cost less.

So I'm 45 and have lived here in Boston my whole life. I wish I could dispute some things, but it's pretty accurate lol. None of it though is new news to me except for the T schedule. I have been taking it all my life. Right now I don't need to but growing up up in East Boston it seemed like it was better than trying to drive around this s**t show. But I never even knew there was an actual schedule to the trains. Busses, yes, but I thought the trains just came randomly. I think that proves your opinion even more lol

transplants telling other transplants about Boston is hilarious. You are speaking on a certain part of Boston. Transplants are the majority who don't speak to people I know a family who moved in my childhood neighborhood and acts like no one exists around them. Parking got that way because of...you guess it...transplants. gas lines for grills? where the hell do you live the seaport?

Boston is an over populated city- most definitely. Ranked with one of the Highest traffic rates in the United States on many lists. The thing is the other cities on this list have a population of over 2 million. Boston population is under 700,000 with some of the worst traffic showing that it is overgrown .

As a Miami common visitor, a city bigger than Boston, I don't think the host realizes just how bad mass transit is in America, on average. It made for good humor in the video, but Boston's T is regularly counted as the second or third best mass transit in the nation. Yeah, it sucks, but compared to what city in America? New York, that's one. But the list ends there. Like Miami's consists of just a single line with trains like every 20 minutes and it is number 8. We need to do much better. In Boston sure. But at least you are starting from a much higher vantage point than most cities. If you are thinking of moving to Boston and don't want to own a car, then Boston is probably as good as any city in the U.S. save New York because of its mass transit.

As someone who has lived in chicago and frequents New Yorks subway system multiple times every year, and Europe subway systems, It’s not even close. many chicago subways come every 2 min during during rush hour. They are fast and so is NYC. You can get anywhere faster with a train than to drive. I do know that Bostons subway somehow makes it as a top 3- which is surprising to me. I think it’s behind New York, chicago, and dc, maybe even behind Philly. The T is always delayed, moves so slow. 25 mph. The green line is a trolley- let’s not pretend it’s not. Faster to bike in nearly every case, and sometimes it’s even faster to walk according to a Harvard study. Chestnut hill to back bay, much faster to drive anytime of day. Why does it take 15 min to drive to the airport from Fenway and nearly 45 min by public transportation? How do people who live in south Boston get to work in longwood medical center? Hint, it’s not convenient. Why does it take 45 min to walk from seaport to TD garden but transportation to td garden is also 45 min from there? My wife took the t to the airport yesterday from Kendall square- 45 minutes. Driving it would have only been 10 min. Never met anyone from New York or Chicago who thinks Bostons transit system is better. It’s always people from New England or from towns that don’t even have a subway that is just happy to experience one in Boston. And as someone who goes to Miami 2-3 times every winter, I agree Miami’s system is not ahead of Boston. It’s nice that it is free though. I only criticize the T because it could be so much better.

I take the blue, then green line from the airport to my brother's a lot. The congested parts of the green line are underground so I don't think it is fair to call it a trolley. And even when above ground, it gets rail which cars can't drive on. One time I missed the train and didn't want to wait the 7 minutes and tried to run and catch up. I wasn't able to. I have never been on Chicago's subway but I sort of get the impression it does not feel as safe. Maybe I am wrong about that. But if you look at ridership, Boston and Chicago are about the same whereas Boston is a much smaller city. So I suspect Boston relies on it's T more than Chicago relies on mass transit. This helps make Boston such a walkable city. But I am not writing to say Boston's subway is better than Chicago's. I just think you have the T on the wrong video!!! It belongs in the "good things" video. What you are saying, is like saying, don't move to San Diego because the weather there is not as good as Hawaii's . Yes, New York's is better, but that is probably the only one which is definitely better. The viewer deserves to be told that, joking aside, it is way way way better than most big cities in the U.S., and that Boston is a top 5, maybe a top 2, big city to live in if you really don't want a car. Maybe list it in both videos, and you can keep the humor.
@JoeyandFranci
@JoeyandFranci 20 күн бұрын
@@jlamm2223443 the thing is, transportation is supposed to be faster than driving. You probably could have driven to your destination faster. That should be how you grade how good public transportation is. the green line stops at at green lights sometimes and has to stop at red lights. That’s why I consider it a trolley. But it’s perspective it’s opinion, you calling boston a big city, personally I would never say that because Ive lived in a city of 2.3 million. Boston is 25 largest city in terms of population like 650,000. But yeah you’re entitled to your opinion, I’m speaking from my experience living in 3 major cities. I just don’t think you’d say the same thing if you took the green line to work every day, which you might do already though.

If compared to European cities, sure, Boston is bad. If compared to the time it takes in a car, sure, Boston is bad. But how many metro systems in the U.S. are then good? I just comment so that people thinking of moving to Boston realize the T is very good compared to what one can reasonably expect for a U.S. city its size. I would say that quite a few people would give their right arm for something half as good as the T in Atlanta, Miami, Dallas, Houston, Detroit, Tampa. Jacksonville, . Nashville, ... I think this is what gives Philly, Boston, New York, Chicago, Washington D.C., some of their appeal. Compared to cities elsewhere in the country ....

Love Boston, but live in the suburbs. Definitely try to be selective about trips downtown because of traffic. Downtown Boston is a fantastic place to check out. Very clean, safe, great food, and always something going on. The people can be grumpy but they are some of the funniest and intelligent people (of course I’m generalizing) to grow bonds with, idk I guess I just get them as I have a low tolerance for BS. I also appreciate massholes for keeping idiots from running buckwild on the streets.

I can't believe he does not mention the great mass transit. Boston has the oldest subway in the nation and one of the best. Forget about renting a car when visiting. There is great mass transit from the airport, all over town. This plus the walkability is really great. I don't know why he does not mention the great mass transit.

It’s a culture of self-pity. Seriously. Misery-loving workaholism, envy, resentment, and just about everything you don’t want in life. Before I moved there my friends described it that way to me and I was like “oh I’m sure it’s not as bad as all that.” Finally got away a couple of years ago and haven’t felt the tiniest momentary trace of nostalgia. 5:17. It kinda depends on the environment too. I grew up in Dorchester, which was a hood part of Boston. Naturally, there, people are more closed off. But when I moved to Quincy, which was a higher income suburban neighborhood, people walking down the street would just be like, "How you doing?" I remember the first time this happened. I started looking around to see if they were talking to someone behind me. It took a while for me to get used to it. I also experienced this a lot in college, which makes sense. There are a lot of people not from this area. And I suspect a lot of people were just more comfortable to be themselves once they got out of high school

I actually laughed out loud about drivers after making a mistake. I live outside Boston. This very morning i get to a 3 way, i can either go straight or make a right and theres no signage, the other car coming towards me has a stop sign and he can go straight through or make a left. So I keep going making my turn but the other guy blows through the light, honks at me like I made a mistake and almost hits me, so I point at his stop sign. At the next light he pulled up next to me holding his head and not looking at me at all. Also. My Mom is from Chicago and says the same about the weather.

The greater Boston area is a great place to raise kids. Great schools and healthcare are a big difference maker. If you come from another major city, Boston is pretty lame for night life. I moved to Boston from the Chicago area, and Boston felt like a small college town. The people arent rude, but they are cliquey AF. Everyone eill immediately ask where you are from, what city or town, and what neighborhood, just to size you up. The price of living is heartbreaking to say the least. Most Bostonians never live outside the tr-state area, so its a social distortion bubble.
