Great video & playing! You know I hear guys named Jack are not only fantastic guitar players, but they’re also mysteriously handsome and charismatic. That’s the scuttlebutt anyway.

For comparison purposes, it is very important that the volume of both guitars is the same and in this video the Squier has the volume a little lower. A simple adjustment in the height of the Squier or Fender pickups would equalize the volumes. Another observation is that Squier CVs made in China, before the production line moved to Indonesia, are better evaluated
@JonnyDee123

Sound wise virtually indistinguishable. I certainly couldn't tell the difference without seeing the video. Value for money - the Squier wins hands down. Paying £600 more for an aesthetic (some might say while others might disagree) improvement would not tempt me. I have a Squier 50s CV now but had a Fender US 70s Tele in the 1980s. In all honesty, the Squier is every bit as good as the Fender was. Nice video and playing btw.

The difference between valve amps and solid state amps is the same as the difference between glass and crystal, crystal goes ping, glass goes clunk! Valves amplify voltage in a sealed tubular container, the electrons bounce around in, they produce a pure sine wave which is more pleasing to the ear, state amps amplify voltage, sampled sine waves are like a sine wave with steps in it up and down the wave. Still sounds like glass, not as pure as crystal.

I completely with you. However quad cortex isn’t completely solid state, it’s a digital modeller. A digital amplifier is often associated with modeling amplifiers. It takes a signal and then does a digital signal processing (dsp) to get the desired tone. In essence, a computer process. It then takes the output of this processing and runs it though a solid state power amplifier. Because the signal from the guitar is processed, it can make it warmer, or even mimic many of the other amplifiers out there. If you like a particular Marshall amp, it cam mimic it. If you want to change it so it sounds like a Fender amp, Vox, etc., you can. So a digital amp is a solid state amp with a computer that processes your guitars signal and makes it sound like other amplifiers. It also allows you to apply some effects without the need for pedals.
