Unfortunately, I agree with you It's not even nostalgia, it's the sudden cut and Aerith open her eyes(I know it's to explained Cloud mental state but.......come on, it ruined the emotional impact), as well "My fingers is tingling. My mouth is dry! My eyes are burning!" got remove, this hurt me the most

Honestly the way rebirth did this death was brilliant! They build up this whole changing fate to make fans guessing if she would live, we see cloud beat the whispers leaving us to believe he had beaten fate, but it turned out he didn’t. I think it wasn’t as emotional because we had so much deaths already happens with the flashback-just so much happening in general; I think part 3 is where we will cry a lot once cloud figures out she really died.

FF7 Rebirth developers did their best to avoid causing emotional damage to their newgen snowflake fans. 😅 Id rather they have balls and let Aerith 'die' (like in the original) instead of "she's dead to the rest of the party but not Cloud, as he can still talk to her" bs.

I'm still confused with Aerith death in ff7 rebirth, she keeps coming back after being slashed by sephiroth, she helps cloud fight sepiroth, and then Cloud just casually tells her to wake up and she wakes up and smile, I said "so she is still alive", and then the gang are being sad and devastated, I said " Wait' didn't she just wake up, so she's dead now?" And then Cloud keeps smiling after her confusing death. I don't know how to feel.

@@shandilesmanahidayat7131 We won't know for sure until the trilogy is completed but it seems like Cloud "saving" Aerith created a new timeline/world where she is alive (which is why she keeps appearing to Cloud but not the others because only he was there when he saved her and thus can see this alternate reality) despite her still being dead in the "main" timeline/world. Which is to say that its needlessly convoluted. And while it does seem like they are building up to a big moment where Cloud learns Aerith is *actually* dead in his world/timeline (since he seems to think she's alive), they're doing so at the players' expense since the scene ends up lacking in any emotional impact.

I loved the direction they took with this scene on Rebirth and I'm very excited to see what they have in store for us, but I must admit, this is still such a heartbreaking scene. I can't not cry when watching this. The Rebirth scene doesn't give you time to process what's happening (and that's what they intended), and it ends up being "less sad" this way. still cried like a baby when her theme started playing during jenova lifeclinger tho

I'm one of those freaks who would have loved a change to the scene like Aerith getting fully saved across all of time or hell even Cloud dying then getting replaced by Zach. And even then I still thought the ending of Rebirth was mid lol

Honestly having something completely outlandish like that would be better received than this ending, simply because it's a clear indication to people that this isn't a remake. Whereas trying to keep the original event intact while cramming in all the alternate timeline stuff only ends up inviting people to draw comparisons and inevitably complain.
