Congratulations on the anniversary. It's hard to put yourself out there and it's a cool accomplishment. Also, I love the weather plot and think you should do more data graphs. How about a scatter plot of mood versus temperature?

Oh! I wonder how that would work! I’m a big graph person lol

Framing really makes the work pop, but I get what you mean about the green mat. matte? Matt?
@HobbiesAndHyperfocus20 күн бұрын
Yeah. The framers like to go subtle. It works and my living room is orange so it’s not too dull, but next piece I will try something a bit more dramatic lol

I am like you in so many ways…initialed and dated all my stitches 25 years ago (my year will be much bigger than yours), then took a long break and now I am trying to figure out how to do it so it fits the design nicely. I am also a Canadian flosstuber early in my journey. And, I like 40 count for its size but it is hard on my eyes and is not relaxing so I do 20 count Aida. Just personal preference and keeping things enjoyable. Good luck with the dental surgery.

Interesting discussions about being a process stitcher. I hadn't thought about the monogamous process stitcher before, so this is fascinating. Your FFO of Tigerlily is gorgeous! -Stephanie
@HobbiesAndHyperfocusАй бұрын
Yeah if “process stitching” is just for the fun or enjoyment of the work then I have always been a process stitch person rather than a product stitcher. But I also didn’t realize how much fun multiple WIPS were until Jan 1, 2023 lol

Your mermaid SAL looks fantastic!! I do initials on some things but not all. Most of the time I forget. I don't do anything on 40 count... other than round robin piece that is one of my group members project. 28 count over 1 would be same as 56 count over two... so that would be small enough for me and possible without eye strain. I record when hubby is at work because dogs stay calm when he is not here.... usually. Yes that was 2023 spring fling. I need to get to dentist... least favorite thing ever. I have a tooth doing weird stuff and of course is one in back...ugh.

Do not let your accrued vacation get too high. Your work are such considerate people that I wouldn't trust them to pay it out at the end, but I do trust them to suddenly put a cap on how much you can roll over without paying it out then either. I'm sorry they're so gleefully inconsiderate. The bonus murderpodcast was a pretty unexpected direction for the tangent. And congrats on the followers.

Please dont feel alone, or weird. I'm not able to attend next year and I'm not sure if I'll be jumping for another anytime soon,but I hope we get to meet up in person again someday! 💜

Thank you! I have spent most of my life feeling super overwhelmed... and so i think i will be trying every 2 - 3 years for in person events. My work schedule will not work out for either weekend anyway... but maybe 2026? LOL

Yay you recorded!!! I do not like your workplace... they are clearly not supportive. I am so sorry that you are having to deal with so much bs because they dragged their feet on getting another person. Both parents are responsible for the children, you should not be responsible for everything on your own. I am sorry you don't have a supportive spouse either.

My local Fedex Office has a poster copier that I take my Mira patterns to so I can have a working copy of the pattern that gets destroyed and not the original. They charge $1.75 a side, which while not cheap, is much less expensive than having to order another pattern. I've been told that Staples and Office Max/Depot may also have printer/copiers that can handle large and unusual sizes. Maybe there's something similar in your neck of the woods? I hope that's somewhat helpful.
@HobbiesAndHyperfocus2 ай бұрын
Thanks! During my first marriage I was married to an engineer and he had access to a large format printer that they use for architectural drawings called a plotter and that was GREAT it could do the whole thing super easily. At one time the Staples here wouldn't allow you to copy ANYTHING that might be copy right... but my office now has a printer that can print up to 11x17 which seems to work relatively well so that's what I've been using lately

Well that sucks pretty spectacularly. I'm so sorry it went so awkwardly for you. I know that feeling personally, and it's a really crappy one even with anxiety. Don't stress about going back next year, especially if you have to decide that quickly. But you can think about going the year after, when you've had some time to process and figure out what part is your anxiety and what part was being in an unknown environment. If you did choose a next time, you'd know more about what to expect and that would make it a whole lot less anxious. That's later. Right now, just pet your cats and decompress.
@StitchesandSpookies2 ай бұрын
I'm sorry to hear it was a mixed bag for you at Stitch North. I feel you on the anxiety and awkwardness. I truly appreciate you being willing to share your experience because I have been really on the fence about whether to do Stitch North (or any in-person retreat for that matter). It requires a lot of planning for me to travel without my child, and I don't want to go through all that and spend the money to just end up having a difficult time and not being able to connect in the way I'd like to. Honestly, it would probably be way too overstimulating for me, so I will probably stick to virtual retreats for now.

I'm so sorry it was a hard time for you! I just wanted to say that you didn't come across as weird or awkward and it was nice to be near your table. When it comes to the Smalls exchange, for a couple of minutes I thought you got mine because it was in the same bag (the hotel water bottle) and said the same thing on it. I usually go with a simple bag for a smalls exchange, for me it's part of the surprise. Yes, some people go overboard with their small, but the limit was technically 15 dollars or less for the extras. Again, I'm glad I got to meet you in person!

I wish I could give you a hug. I can totally relate to your feelings. You are courageous for even going to Stitch North on your own - I don’t think I could do that. I was there at week 2 as well but was fortunate to be there with my daughter. Thank you so much for sharing - it takes so much courage to put yourself out there. But take some comfort in knowing you are not alone. I wish you had sat at our table and beside me. Keep going forward as you say and focus on your love of cross stitch especially since it gives you solace in this crazy world. I am actually way out of my comfort zone by writing this - but do relate and had to reach out. You are not alone in this struggle. Hugs! 🤗

Hi Pam! I’m so sorry that your Stitch North experience was difficult for you. I had a lot of anxiety last year because it was my first retreat and being in a room full of other people can definitely be intimidating and meeting new people does not come naturally to me at all either. But I’m so glad I got to meet you in person this year. I had fun seeing your stitching and trading tarot cards with you. I hope that we can meet again in the future and spend more time talking. I think you’re an amazing person and I do love watching your videos. 💜💜💜
@jenniferappel772 ай бұрын
Please know you did nothing wrong!! I completely understand how overthinking and being stuck in your own thoughts on a loop is really stressing you. I honestly don't think I will ever go to a retreat because of the overstimulus of too many people and yet feeling alone. I can spiral real quick, and honestly, the thought of having a bad experience yet knowing it was because I was having a bad mental health week would totally turn me off too. I hope you know we all love seeing you here and hopefully with time you can feel not so terrible about the experience. And for what its worth, I feel like retreats are designed for neurotypicals. There needs to be better understanding of what sensory overload can do to folks and accommodations made for those that prefer more quiet spaces and smaller groups. 💚
@HobbiesAndHyperfocus2 ай бұрын
Thank you. Part of why I put off posting this for almost a week after it was recorded was because I recognized that it was a thought loop. The retreat was great, it was designed well and the people there were great but sometimes my brain goes sideways LOL

I know what it’s like to be in a crowd because I struggle sometimes as well. People scare me sometimes and I go into my shell and it’s hard to get out of it. That’s why I like you and watch you. I love watching your videos and yes I watch you to the end 😊 I am wondering if you would shear Tiger Lilly when you finish it. It was my mom’s favourite flower and the pattern is beautiful. We haven’t had a good blizzard here in Oklahoma in a number of years and we tend to get more ice in the winter than snow. I’d much rather have snow! 😂 Your Long Dog is looking sooo good! I love it!
