Hi Team, We want to add credit card details for a patient using the AdvanceMD APIs on our platform, but I'm unable to find the exact API to add any payment method. Could you please let us know the correct API for this ?

Also, if you are making a patient list of their current medications, you cannot put some of them as current if your patient doesn’t need refills. Once you enter in a “current” medication it automatically generates a prescription even if your patient doesn’t need one. There is no “do not send” feature or any sort of way to indicate that you want it listed as a current medication but don’t want a refill sent. In these situations you have to list the medication as “record only.” Meds that are record only cannot be requested through the patient portal on the patient side and they might be concerned if other meds are listed but others are not. This is another situation where AMD falls short in being efficient and thus save you time but it is the single most persnickety platform ever for prescribers.

This another misleading marketing video by AMD. You must go about prescribing in a very specific manner. You must make sure the patient’s preferred pharmacy is entered in first otherwise it will not generate into the prescription. You must enter in vital signs first for the same reasons. For example, I am in child and adolescent psychiatry and I see many kids with ADHD. If I want to prescribe medication a stimulant you must put in a set of vital signs and the date you obtained said vital signs. I do check these things fyi but the process through AMD is if you don’t have this in FIRST in the patients chart it won’t populate into the rx and it won’t let you send it until it’s entered. When I voiced this concern as I never encountered this using any other EHR in my career I was told this is a mandate per the FDA and there is no way around it but couldn’t explain why other EHRs don’t have this. Again, if you don’t put in the patients vital signs in their chart before you initiate the prescription you have to enter it in the script and another step when you are trying to go through patient care.

If your practice policy includes having a credit card on file from patients there isn’t a way for patients to login to their patient portal and enter the information unless there is a balance due, which defeats the entire purpose of having a cc on file to avoid having to contact patients to make a payment. Some will be comfortable giving their info over the phone but most people are not. Yes, people can bring in their card on their appointment and you can enter it in but it cuts into time that could be used for other tasks. The only way around this is to activate their online scheduling feature but you are still running into the same issue as many clients are not interested in doing appointments that way. I outsource my billing and the company I use manages other clients with other EHRs and I am the only one that has yet to get things going through AMD in regard to the change healthcare attack. Literally everyone else is running things automatically without problems but with some we still have to use our previous clearing house which they have to put in manually. My biller has repeatedly expressed frustration over how ridiculously complex it is for billing compared to all other EHRs they have used.

Another thing they don’t tell you is there is a word limit in text boxes. In my process of trying to make anything customizable, I want with the most basic way of chunking notes into HPI, history, assessment, plan and even then I wasn’t able to complete my notes due to the character limit. If you are messaging a patient and get any conversation thread going it will only take you so far because of the character limit so you have to start with a new message to make another short term thread. Patients will get frustrated as well because they give up on sending messages which means more phone calls to the clinic that could have been easily managed by with back and forth messaging.

What they don’t tell you is how tedious and trying it is to make these fancy customized templates. This video is misleading as it claims all you have to do is scroll through their templates and copy/paste what parts you like in your own. The process of having to configure every. single. function of said template in Microsoft word. You need to in out the data in the template, download the data and configure it into Microsoft word and God forbid you make any mistake. Once you upload it, if there is a mistake, you need to download it again in Microsoft word and try and figure out where the mistake is, upload it again and then repeat this process thousands of times and maybe, just maybe you can a section or two after several hours of your precious time!

Questions: How does viewing a Lab Order help to view a patient anomaly? Wouldn't that be party to the Lab Results? How do you indicate preliminary vs final Lab Results? Are the Lab Orders and Results Donuts implicitly or explicitly linked? Is there a way to chain a prescription back to lab results? Thanks.
