We used "FYL-5013HD1C FORYARD" Better option would be "FYL-5013LRC1C FORYARD" and the closest to original would be "OSR5RUEDD1A OPTOSUPPLY" I opted for those because I needed it to work and nothing more. If you are from EU then I guess you can check out www.tme.eu because most counties gets everything from them ether way.

Hey mate, do you know what the 2 marks on the harmonic balancer pulley line up with and what they’re for? Cheers
@thecrazylatvian

First off, thanks for stopping by. I'm always happy to be of use to people. Below is "official" information. but basically those marks is meant for setting the correct timing. One is for "Top Dead Center" that indicates that first piston is on it's top most position and the other one is ignition mark. That is usually specified in degrees before top dead center (BTDC). The marks on the harmonic balancer pulley are used to ensure the correct timing of the engine, which is crucial for optimal engine performance. Aligning these marks properly is essential when performing tasks such as replacing the timing belt or chain, adjusting the ignition timing, or setting the valve timing. Hope this helps, I can put the whole thing in a comment also if you want, heck I'll do it even if you don't want 😅

The harmonic balancer pulley, also known as the crankshaft pulley, typically has timing marks that are used for engine timing purposes. These marks align with the timing marks on the engine block to help set the correct timing for the engine's ignition and valve timing systems. Here are the two common marks you might find on the harmonic balancer pulley: Top Dead Center (TDC) Mark: This mark indicates the position where the number one cylinder is at the top of its compression stroke. It is the reference point for setting the ignition timing. When this mark aligns with the corresponding mark on the engine block or timing cover, it means the piston in the number one cylinder is at its highest point in the cylinder. Ignition Timing Mark: This mark indicates the position for setting the ignition timing advance. It is usually specified in degrees before top dead center (BTDC). This mark helps in setting the timing of the spark plug firing relative to the position of the piston to optimize engine performance and efficiency. To summarize, the marks on the harmonic balancer pulley are used to ensure the correct timing of the engine, which is crucial for optimal engine performance. Aligning these marks properly is essential when performing tasks such as replacing the timing belt or chain, adjusting the ignition timing, or setting the valve timing.

It is in deed 6 speed Automatic. But I did a little more digging on if I can use this M57 in my Patrol and the answer is No. Because it is just too powerful and in Latvia if I put it in then I would need to change brake system and then I need to get it certified and overall, not worth it. I need ~2002 M57 3 liter engine to be all good. So this car is just for laughs.

@@thecrazylatvian each country has its own regulations - read difficulties. Changing the engine in the Patrol Y61 to the M57 is easy if we leave the Patrol gearbox, and even easier if we leave the manual BMW gearbox, because then there are no problems with the clutch, there is a reinforced set from BMW. If you have any questions, please ask.

Now I feel awkward considering I have (spoiler alert) scheduled few videos on BMW. But yeah for Patrol I think after few BMW there will be at least one with Patrol where I will try to put everything together and then I will try to manage my finances the right way to have funds to weld the body and paint the bad boy. Long term channel direction all depends on finances but I wouldn't mind start building something for Drag Race, in Latvia there is practically nothing happening for that, because we have one even a year, but I did it way back when I was just getting around my first cars, so seems fun to hold as hobby. P.S. Last year I drove a bit around Poland, went to get my self two dogs "Jamniks". Never been there before, can officially say was pleasantly surprised. Also the highways... best thing ever, not like in Latvia where you have mostly one lane and speed limit of 90 km/h 🤣

A little tipsy for you, when take large parts off the frame, make marks on one end on the part you are removing and also where it fits onto, you can use a hammer and chisel for a permanent mark or a mechanic' paint pen.

I would say not really. There is a lot of aftermarket parts in Poland. Obviously parts are getting scarcer but at current point I haven't encountered any issues of getting anything I need. My restoration is currently on 3 year hard stop because life got in a way of this and I need finances more else were. Currently for car need to do a bit of wiring and painting and then pretty much that's it but in Latvia where I'm from, I need around 2K EUR for all that so that is a bit too much currently :)

Japan will have original parts but I bet they are pricy like you said. If from Asia then I have no idea, not sure if China is making any aftermarket stuff. If region is Africa then I would look at South Africa, they also love Patrols. North and South American continent most likely can get parts from the same Australia if I would need to guess. I have vacuum leak in brakes but that is expected since I have lot of tubes missing still. Overall. I cant find time to spend sitting in my tent and tinkering with wires.

Если что вот ссылка на установку: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Z9qolrF5nbSZYH0.html

Amazing job, I really want to see how it drives as there aren’t many videos on the RD28T. I think it’s underrated but I never tried it so what do I know haha.

Big thanx for your comment and encouragement! If I wasn't that lazy lately I would have another video or even few out with progress. Now trying to force my self to go back in tent and fill the fluids so I can at least drive it out of the tent :) But yeah I also want to drive it on the road again, but unfortunately that won't happen this year, because I don't have spare money to pay for body work and paint job. Lets just hope I will get it in technical condition so I can put it on trailer and then go mudding or something :) About RD28T, it's a solid engine that likes to overheat, but since I replaced stock cooling fan with my double fan, it works like a charm. Only thing I would like, is for the engine to have little bit more HP so it drives faster. Workaround for that is opening up fuel so it uses a lot, and then you can do a burnout on 31" tires with ease :)

@@thecrazylatvian I have been there, you start ambitious but then get lazy. You just need to push yourself and do whatever you can when you have time. After seeing some more progress you’ll get the motivation to keep going. Too bad about the bodywork, but driving it and doing burnouts should be enough of a motivation 😂😂. About overheating, it’s a patrol, overheating is in their nature haha all engines with no exceptions, but there’s always a way to reduce it like using fans as you did. I have one with a TB48 swap and it does overheat slightly but not really worrying as it stays under 95C and mostly low 80s in regular days. It does burnouts in first to second to third gear on 36 tires haha which makes it worth the effort. Keep up the great work as there aren’t many people like you on here and I am sure many people will benefit from a few parts here and there. I learned how to remove 3rd row seats from you :)

@@naif6821 Yeah, starting my patrol restoration series I already knew that it wouldn't blow up my channel, mostly I do it for my self and to help in case someone needs it. It always feels good to see that someone found some useful part from my videos :)
