We had to move the fence to put the Joshua Tree outside the donkey corral because Willow was digging it up... They still get the shade but can't rub on it anymore. The poor little Joshua in with the boys you see there is covered in their hair, they rub on it all the time! We need to plant some Morinaga trees so they have real shade & bonus, they can eat the fallen leaves & fruit! All in good time, baby steps. I do love when they are all resting & getting along, it's very peaceful.

We are not 100% sure as he's a rescue but based on size, scutes, activity level we think he's around 10.

They are Joshua Trees. They aren't really 'trees', they are in the Lily family so basically giant Peace Lilies ~ *LOL* They put out blooms every other year or so that smell like a faint hyacinth. They are pretty cool & rather old too, they grow slowly.

He is curious but he prefers the outside.

He is nosey! *LOL* He just can't resist an open door/gate. He has a nice enclosure outside & lives there year round but we allow him to visit inside now & again as an adventure.

An old rancher pinched his hand in a squeeze gate to the point of needing stiches. While his doctor was stitching him up their conversation came around to politics, when the doctor asked the old man what he thought of the current President. The rancher responded by saying he thought the President was no more than a "Post Turtle." He further explained, "When you're driving down an old country road and you come up upon a turtle balanced on a fence post, that's a post turtle." Noting the curious look on the doctor's face, he realized that the doctor still did not understand, so he continued, "You know he didn't have the ability to get there himself, he has no idea how he got there or what he's doing, he has no natural ability to accomplish anything from there, and you can't help but wonder what idiot put him there. You can only pity him, for the injuries he'll receive when he falls from that post." 😢 0:25 😮

Now you know why they recommend a minimum of 18" for a barrier to keep tortoises in, they climb! I was right there to catch him if it looked like it was going to end badly but he was fine. He learned he doesn't quite fit in that hole so I doubt he'll bother getting up there again but it was funny to watch him do it!

We wish we were 20 years younger, things would be more complete but we're working with what we have in both supplies & energy! It's a long term goal & the reason we moved here, to make our own little desert oasis to retire in, we're getting there & I doubt the projects will ever end. Good thing I enjoy the process ~ *LOL*

Everyone is where they belong & the gate is secure again. Willow has a scrape on her lower leg, likely from climbing on the gate & slipping through... All is well & this is sunrise, sunset is in our front yard.

Welcome, glad you could stop by. We moved here in 2015. There was a house & shed on one acre. We've been adding land, buildings, fencing & critters ever since! Happy Land Hunting ~ Lots to choose from all over the country, hope you find the perfect place.

Everyone, meet Jerry. He's our Grand-Squeezle (a.k.a. our son Adam's Ferret) They live about 1/10th mile down the street. As you can see he has plenty to play with but insists on stealing the black crocheted mouse I made for Adam's black cat Xerxes who sadly passed away not long ago. Adam has kept the mouse on his desk but Jerry found it & decided he NEEDS it! Jerry just lost his brother to cancer a few weeks ago... It was very sad as they are under a year old. I think the mouse is the perfect toy for Jerry, a little buddy he can play with when the other 2 cats won't play with him. I may have to make him a stuffed ferret more his size he can really wrestle with in the near future. Enjoy Jerry's Antics! Sending Much Peace, Love & Harmony from Petrichor Ranch & Petrichor Annex, AZ.

Ferrets are funny critters. We love them but ferrets & parrots are a bad combo so we have the parrots & get to visit the ferret down the road! Adam got the pair after his cat passed, it's sad he lost Kramer within months & so young too, but he's really enjoying Jerry & so do we. His other 2 cats are making friends with him, that's cute to see too.

Thank you Carol. When I did containers a few years ago we grew more than I expected. Melons do well & we got a lot of snap peas & Brussel sprouts. Actual beds with real protection from critters & weather gives me more options to work with so I can grow more variety. I do enjoy going out & picking dinner in the summer.
@CarolLee-mq8erАй бұрын
@@EllenRosePeach I’m planting in containers this year. I had two old refrigerators gutted out the works so it wouldn’t contaminate anything and using them as planters. Better than them filling up the dump. I’m used to reusing things most people throw out.
@EllenRosePeachАй бұрын
@@CarolLee-mq8er many do that here too. The ground is sand & rocks... I'll line the raised beds with gardener's cloth & we have plenty of free manure handy ~ *LOL* One guy up the road turned his broken hot-tub into a cool cactus garden! Paint goes a long way in making scrap material look better & we have lots of painting to tend to... Baby Steps, over & over but one day (even if it is ONLY for one day) it'll look fabulous! Tip for you, use rocks & sticks to fill 1/2 those fridges, it'll provide good drainage, compost & save you a TON of money on potting soil if that's what you're using. You may have good dirt you can dig.

20 years in the woods of Connecticut, raking leaves, pulling weeds, mowing grass, shoveling snow, trimming trees, trying to grow flowers only to have the deer eat them... Been there, done that & it's a big part of why we're here now, it's easier!

They are cute, most of the time. Chopper is a goofy boy. He was my friend's horse & he'd been used to high-step before she got him so he's a bit high strung at times which is good, he doesn't take Willow's abuse! *LOL*
