Ah, wow, you are into the healing life as well, then. I once was out for weeks with a back ailment. Another time I was off my foot for months and it finally came up as nerve injury (which is so weird - isn't it!!!?). During these times it can be hard to believe our body will ever be boldly strong again. But somehow we find a way. To this day, I do a weird and mysterious back stretch that re-aligns my hips so I can live normally. Best wishes to you as you navigate the path to wellness!

@@RachelWhelton well the arthritis is hereditary, and I was in color guard for 4 years and figure skating as well. Yeah, so I had no plan to put that cot inside the tent but the more I lay on it, the more I think that might be a good thing to try. When I am limping around with my giant knee brace, many total strangers come up to me and start telling me their knee stories. It's super interesting actually. Knee replacement sounds out of this world but it must be a common procedure because so so many people seem to have them. Seems like all my old injuries have ghost lives like tattoos, sort of still with my body somehow even though cured. So I presume this knee thing will be part of the story forevermore. Amazing you were hiking again in 5 months! That says you must have had a good physical therapy team. They are knowledgeable and always seem to see the next steps that I myself cannot predict.

Rachel great to see you on the rebound. One year ago July 24 I somehow got an infection that went straight to my 4 month old hip replacement things went down hill very fast They removed my hip replacement and sent me home after 6 week’s in the hospital along with a bunch of new complications to deal with while waiting for the infection to heal. Finely On December 19 I received my new hip. So far so good kinda. I did all my rehab and PT that my insurance would cover. I now can walk short distances using my cane or sometimes I use trekking poles. Just recently I got to thinking about water walking so I got in a swimming pool and just walk back and forth in the shallow end. What a difference I feel so much stronger plus it just feels so much better walking without a cane. If you can maybe give this a try and look for good results. NeXT challenge is to try and shed weight. With absolutely no activity and just sitting all these months I have promptly gained almost 70 pounds. Wishing you the very best in health and try and be patient with yourself

Wow, I commend you on your battle to health! I gained 70 pounds with each of my two children back in the day. Various things helped but eventually I was able to recover. Many people have been sharing their stories with me when I am out somewhere limping around and it is really amazing what people go through and how they find ways to come out of it to better lives. As for water walking - that sounds terrific! I've been thinking about how to get to the pool, lake, and ocean and there is still hot weather and time enough to make it. 🏖️💦

It is so easy to look at ice as no big deal and stop doing it. But I think you are right. It has to be top of the list and keep happening. I think I could have saved myself some hassle if I had gone into injury-recovery mode from day one!

I enjoy car camping and also enjoy grilling over the campground fire rings. I have a stainless grate from an old gas grill that I bring along because those grates at the fire rings often have large gaps between the individual grates. I lay it over the other one and I never have to worry about food falling through. You can't beat steaks and foil-pack roasted potatoes. I hope you are able to enjoy the outdoors while you heal up.
@RachelWhelton
@RachelWhelton 11 күн бұрын
Thanks. Yes, I like the grate as an upgrade on the fire ring. I never thought of charcoal before either since my memory of it is not positive (the kind with lighter fluid build into it). But I am learning about different ways of doing things between the fire ring, a charcoal grill, and other varieties of stoves, etc. Cooking outside is very interesting.
