We just purchased it a few months ago. We like it so far but during any cicle it stops and the light turns red. We checked all the issues posible in the manual, we checked everything, all ok, but keeps doing it. Basically I press the start again and restart the circle but after 1 hour or so, stops again. Do you have any ideas? What can we do?
@imdefinitelydavid
@imdefinitelydavid Күн бұрын
Did it always do this from the start when you purchased it? I would say to check the cleaner for clogs/impeller/debris but if it did it from the first time you purchased it, it's definitely a motor failing error. I don't think it's the power supply because that still lights up and you can restart it again later. Sounds like a short inside the cleaner to the motor. If it's only a couple of months old it should be under warranty. It'll probably get worse later

I have not had a pool cleaner for almost 3 months!! Seauto, PLEASE HELP!! Dan

although we have a Betta, it gets beached on our zero-depth entry. we have a dolphin vac robot that has tech to prevent that issue, so hoping the same tech is in place for the skimmi. any idea if the infra-red sensors will prevent beaching? I see it works on your tanning ledge, but unsure how that translates to 0-depth

There are some features on the Skimmi that I haven't seen elsewhere that I think are designed for these sorts of situations. It has distance to edge settings and natural and pool settings that help it with infinity edge pools. I would think it would do the same for a zero depth edge, especially with the bottom and top sensors working together.

Hi David Thanks for a great video. I have a glass/Plastic roof.... Do you think the sun can still charge the battery through the roof? Thanks very much and have a nice day.
@imdefinitelydavid
@imdefinitelydavid 4 күн бұрын
Hello, great question! I just did some testing because I literally had no idea the answer to this. The great thing about the Skimmi is that it shows the kw charging in real-time. In direct morning sunlight, it charges at 6.7kw. I placed a clear plastic sheet and a polycarbonate sheet while the Skimmi was in direct sunlight, and it had a noticeable drop in charging, down to 2.3ish kw. So, in short, yes, it will still charge with a plastic/glass roof, but it will decrease the strength of uv rays/sunlight. It means it will take longer to charge overall. This will mostly effect how soon the Skimmi turns on the next day, but if you schedule it to save battery in the night it would work fine still. During the day, even with a cover ontop it should still work well enough to run through the day depending on the time of season. Summer vs Fall, etc. Hope that helps! 😃

I have the Betta SE Plus, and one problem that I run into is that it can't handle the cord from my corded pool robot. If I ever forget the robot in the pool, the Betta will eventually get stuck on the cord, and the water can get quite messy as it just sits there. I've been tempted to switch to a cordless unit to better support the automated skimmer, but I really want to see what more companies do with a dock similar to Wybot's S2 Pro before I dive into that. I think the most awkward part about these automated skimmers is that it makes me question why even consider a Beatbot Aquasense Pro for its skimming function. If you use it, it will just use up the battery to do a job that these automated skimmers can do "for free" (i.e., charged by the sun).
@imdefinitelydavid
@imdefinitelydavid 5 күн бұрын
Every automatic skimmer aside from the new Dolphin Skimmi that I've tested isn't designed to handle cords/hoses. The only way to use them with a robotic cleaner is to go cordless unfortunately. And it does seem like the new trend will be self-docking stations like the S2 Pro, which is pretty cool. I totally agree with you about the Aquasense Pro. I have it, but prefer to use a separate cordless cleaner with a separate automatic solar skimmer. The only real benefit of the Aquasense Pro is it being the only all-in-one cordless cleaner. It's great, but there are less expensive options that do better overall, just slightly less convenient I guess. Speaking of skimmers and Beatbot, they have a new $1k skimmer releasing soon... we will see how that performs when I get it.

How long will this stay in standby without recharging? If you can schedule cleaning time for the week will the battery last a week assuming it hasn’t run and just sitting at the bottom of the pool waiting for the scheduled clean event to start?
@imdefinitelydavid
@imdefinitelydavid 8 күн бұрын
It will last a week depending on how often you have it turn on. Well, I should say it lasts about 3 to 4 cleanings to be more exact. So if you program it to turn on every other day, it'll go a week. But if you have it every day, less than a week. Depending on the time of year, when there's more debris or less, you would change the schedule and get more or less out of it. In most cases, turning on every other day works well enough so the battery should last a week before charging

I'm kind of in a weird spot when it comes to these cleaners. I'm interested in getting one without a cord as it causes problems for skimmer robots, but I think we're only just starting to see some of the limitations get removed from cordless pool cleaners. For example, Wybot's new S2 Pro has a dock that allows it to communicate while the robot is underwater and also charge when it's done, which sounds really nifty, but honestly... I'm wary about the company's long-term support. I sent them an inquiry about the S2 Pro a week or two ago, and I never received a response. Their website has a serious lack of information on it (detailed functionality description, user manual download links, etc.) and I needed clarification. One advantage of incumbents like Maytronics and Polaris is that parts are fairly common and there's good information around. So, I could see Beatbot coming out with a docked unit within a year or two to compete with Wybot. Although, given the Aquasense Pro is touted as having a fairly potent internal processor, I guess it's also plausible that a dock could be a potential future upgrade for the existing unit(s). However, as is the rule with anything, do not make purchases based upon promises or guesses!

Hi David My neighbor and I bought Skimmis about a month ago when they first came into Canada. Generally, I agree with your findings but can add a couple of comments: I don't have a main drain in my pool, and skimmi never gets caught at the skimmmer. It has plenty of power to pull away. Twice now, I caught skimmi trying to clean the pool going backward. I was ready to take it back the first time, but my neighbor said "no problem, just pull the debree tray and put it back in". Sure enough, it worked. My personal feeling is that this is a very good cleaner, but may have been released before all the bugs were worked out.

Thanks for chiming in. So far I really like the Skimmi. My Skimmi doesn't get stuck on the skimmer either but others might have that problem depending on the speed setting of their pump. I agree with you, it has more power than other skimmers as well. No idea why your skimmer would move backwards aside from the normal motion it does but if taking the debris basket out and pushing it back in fixes it then I would assume maybe some sort of debris was stuck in it somewhere? I haven't noticed my Skimmi doing anything abnormal.

The S1 and N1 are almost the same cleaner but designed to be sold in different "stores". S1 is sold mostly from online retailers like Amz or online pool stores. Whereas the N1 is sold more likely in stores like your local pool supply store or even lowes, etc. But some stores even have both available(like Wlmrt). It gets confusing but generally the same. Physically they have different colors and the buttons are a little different. Inside the cleaner is the same but the N1 is rated about 10 more GPH than the S1 so slightly better but negligible. And I think the N1 comes with extra roller brushes in the box. So what I'd do is buy the one that's the less expensive option really. They work almost identical 👍

Hey David, do you when the WYBOT S2 Pro is available? For the charging dock placed inside the pool, what if another pool robot clean the waterline and it will “clean” this charging dock too?
@imdefinitelydavid
@imdefinitelydavid 17 күн бұрын
Wybot is ALWAYS late to deliver. Whenever they say "ships by" it's just an estimate. Never once have they ever released a cleaner on time lol. I've used other cleaners with other docks(P1 Max), not exactly the same but similar. The cleaner will hit the dock but eventually goes back down and around the dock. I wouldn't say that it "cleans" the dock but it doesn't damage it or anything

Thanks for the differences review. I bought the S1 because I wasn't going to spend the same amount of money on a replacement motor for my wired Maytronics Dolphin robot that only lasted a few years and was closer to $1k. Compared to my first robot, an Aquabot Pool Demon and the Maytronics Dolphin, the Aiper S1 filter box fills flimsier than my previous two robots' filter box/frame. Although I've only been using the S1 on floor-only mode, it's been cleaning for slightly more than 180 minutes (that's 3 hours plus some minutes). Also, it takes the same amount of time to fully charge (solid blue light) the S1 (3 hours) instead of the 4 hours it says in the manual. 3 hour cleaning time is GREAT! That's a longer cycle than I could do with my Maytronics Dolphin (only allowed a 2.5 hour cycle, then I had to go back out and make it do another cycle, regardless of how much the basket was filled). My Pool Demon was nice that I could leave it on all the time when I started up the season, and would just clean the basket in the morning and evening and basically had it cleaning all the time between filter bag cleanings. Cleaning a filter bag is messier than cleaning a mesh basket, but I think the filter bag did a better job cleaning fine debris better than the Dolphin. Hopefully Aiper stays in business long enough for me to buy parts when things start failing in the unit. We'll see how the Aiper S1 holds up.

I totally agree with you. Bags filter out more finer debris than baskets but yes, totally more annoying to clean! I'm still using the S1 in eco mode in one of my pools weekly. I swap it out for another weekly timer cleaner every other week and it works the same as the first day if that makes you feel better about how it'll last.

Is this better than the Poolbot B150 and how is it compared to Aiper Seagull Pro
@imdefinitelydavid
@imdefinitelydavid 19 күн бұрын
I haven't used the Poolbot but I have used the Seagull Pro. The Osprey I would consider to be the older model for wybot. Between the Osprey and the Seagull Pro, I would say the Seagull Pro does better. However, the newer version of the Osprey is the Wybot C1. And the C1 I would consider to be better in terms of performance than the Seagull Pro. But then there's the newer version of the Seagull Pro... the Scuba S1. And that too, works at a comparable level to the C1

Hey, thanks for the review, but I confuse, if I want 2 in 1 mode, which one should I buy? Cord or cordless? Or if for example I buy cordless, I need to buy the cord separately?
@imdefinitelydavid
@imdefinitelydavid 20 күн бұрын
It can be a bit confusing because of all the options. You can get this cleaner in 3 ways. One, cordless with the floating battery pack. Two, corded with the power supply. And three, 2 in 1, both the floating battery pack AND the power supply. But this version, you can ONLY find right now on their main website. It's not on amz yet. The other two versions are on amz.

@imdefinitelydavid ohh ok, that's why when I go to Amazon, the details description only for cord or cordless options, but in their official website telling hydro 4 is dual options. So do you think if I order from their website, they will send me with both options? That's what I see in "what I get".

Yeah on the website make sure it's the "2 in 1 set" that's the one I bought and I received both setups.

@imdefinitelydavid so neither for sure can be used on the walls??? Even doing the floor and the wall at the same time..... seems like a hassle. I just received mine today and I wanted to be totally sure before I use it.
@imdefinitelydavid
@imdefinitelydavid 20 күн бұрын
You can still use it, they just recommend not to. What they mean is if you notice the cleaner isn't climbing walls the wall like it's supposed to, it may be because of that extra filter. If you take the filter out it allows more flow so it allows the cleaner to climb better. So try it with the filter and if it doesn't climb well enough, take it out and it should be better. It's totally normal for a cleaner to climb/move slower when using a finer filter. That's because it requires more power to suction water and filter through a finer filter than just a normal one piece filter if that makes sense.

Physically, the Beatbot feels more premium and high-end. Performance wise, they both do well... the S2 has more features though so I prefer it over the Beatbot.

I wonder if all of the Scuba pro being returned with issues I don't see any refurbished S1 pro on their website, are they selling the return items as new and not replacing any parts . I bought one and they sent me another one which they said was new but also had a problem with that one. My first scuba pro will climb the wall and when it starts to come down it falls off the wall in the deep end but won't do it on the shallow end. The second one they sent me again they said is brand new,,,one of the motors would not start. I had the Seagull pro and had no issue with that one except the control knob would be hard to turn and the lid to remove the basket would not close.

Sorry but this is a bad designed robot! It's very slippery on tiles It cant climb on walls if the corners are curved and with tiles The navigation is not existent and laughable, it can stay on a corner for two hours and leave a huge part of the floor uncleaned. The tracks are slippery and the robot is too light, so when it hits a corner on angle its drifting by its momentum and it goes on a completely different path leaving the rest of the area dirty! (Yes i removed all the air when singing it, and also removed the microfilter in case it could achieve better suction power) The Microfilter is a joke, there are two huge holes left and right where all the unfiltered water passes through into the propellers The garbage bin if its slightly dirty, the dirt blocks the lid from closing and when you lift the robot it spreading debris into the water I upgraded it with Firmware V1.01 but absolutely nothing changed! This should cost 100$ and be advertised as a toy... Very unsatisfied!
