Interesting point. its value as a moral booster. Leave it to the British to think of that.

I wonder if anyone from any country, thought...Lets just make a medium Tank for all rolls ? I get bridge requirements were important.

Way keep all the Advantages of this design with having the structural integrite of paper: Use F-ing Titanium Alloy instead of Aliminium Alloy! Nuff said.

It seems various tests gave different results due, among other factors, that early shaped charge fusing was often HELPED by piling on sandbags, logs, wire mesh

I seem to recall seeing one of these A30SP Avengers along time ago on a TV news program and wondering what it was. It did not have a gun in it and was being used for observation by the Israelis on the Golan heights or Lebanese border if I remember correctly. So this may explain why there's no record of there fait. As Israel was our enemy in the late 1940s early 50s(still are imo) but some high up in the British establishment would have been sympathetic to their cause. Or perhaps they just pilfered them, if the British army were not using them anymore, with a bribe here or there maybe.

People seem to forget that one of the reasons the Churchill was to be retired early was its lack of speed. And durability. They were shipped from Egypt to somewhere near the front line in Tunisia. The 75mm were at least a gun that allowed the Churchill to be useful. With only a 6 pounder, it was marginally useful.

Im pretty damn sure that the turret on the Charioteer used in the Thumbnail is actually at the Australian Armour and Artillery Mueseum. theres a few videos on their youtube channel where you can see a Charioteer turret with the exact same decals [214 and the Austrian Air Force Roundel] in the exact same place. its just up on a turret stand.

isn't it weird that Germany's largest tank class went from being called "Lowe" or "Lion" ot to being called "Maus" or "Mouse" ? I guess it's project's engineers making fun of how impractical it was

A job well done coming in from America here. I'm commenting because Cone of Arc suggested to check you out while citing you as a source in one of his videos. I love this factual type data and hope there is more to come. So you have earned one of my rare subscribes. Thanks.

Thank you for your hard work to bring us the history of this tank and searching out photos to show us all. Whilst enlightening, the mix of roles of tank destroyers and tanks is as you say very confusing. The distinction of whether the FV is supporting infantry seems pointless as this must ultimately be the case in order to hold territory and win. It is also the case if a battle becomes defensive, because armour would be expected to cover a withdrawal.

Is there a specific page on the Interim report on chemical armour methods of defeating shaped charges. Report No. M.E. 4(a)16. September 1944, Im unsure if Im using the right document due to me trying to line up the document and photo at 5:29

Okay maybe the production was not 290 but I think the prototype where they were testing out the thing might have been because the one where they're testing out to see if it would reach it had a sandbag that went backwards when the round went forward and if you elevated the gun high enough the sandbag would actually go into the engine bay when the gun was fired

Trying to hide the fact that it's the firefly with its 17 pounder gun. The firefly was the No.1 target for German tank gunners as the knew it could penetrate the armour on a german "big cat". The 76 mm gun on the standard sherman was not a real threat to a german big cat.
@SoyjakgamingbutawesomeАй бұрын
the 76mm and the 105mm could almost certainly penertrate the front of a Tiger, although you could of meant to say 75 and not 76

As an American I have to say I really prefer British designs for tanks from a strict visual profile. British tanks for me just look exactly like what I imagine tanks should look like

The question has to be, was this directly because of the restrictions after Versailles and the industrial stripping out and subsequent shortages.
