One reason these great pool shooters seem to miss more than they usally do is because of the different pockets than the older tables. Some time the ENGLISH on the cue ball will turn the ball just enough too touch this new pocket's side, keeps the ball out.

These 2 guys are some of the best straight shooters I've seen. Unfortunately, they don't have experience with safety (especially Yang Fan) and probably will not stand a chance against professional pool players like Van Boening or Jayson Shawn.

When will western players learn the rules before taking part in a Chinese tournament? At least they could put in the time in local pool halls with the locals learning all the ins and outs of Chinese 8 ball. Astonishes me how many times I see the western guy looking amazed and complains about the "wierd" play his opponent just "got away with". *sigh*

If western players had any intention of wanting to dominate Chinese pool then they would learn the rules, but as they've been approached to take part in what is basically an exhibition, why would they put the time and effort in. Snooker and pool are massively different, you can't chop and change at will and be great in both. This is why you pick one cuesport and stick to it.

No pool player has ever been good enough to worry the pro snooker players. Steve Davis was as good as 99% of his opponents when he downsized to the smaller tables.

hit and giggle. they'll fast work out that this sort of thing is detrimental to the sport. jack didn't even know the rules. makes you think that maybe snooker players are just cueing machines (I love snooker by the way) if they want to get these high profile players to play the game, at least get them to show some respect for it. ie. brief themselves on the rules and take it half serious. because this is a bloody circus

If one wanted to comment on the good physical appearance of a male referee I would see nothing wrong with it, just as I see nothing wrong with commenting on the good physical appearance of a female referee. Bear in mind, its different ball size and weight, different size table and pockets, and they using different cues with larger tips, and they dont play this game. Given a little time to adjust im sure they would show some class. Mark Williams a former world champion snooker player plays this to a decent standard.
