I was concerned when I bought my HC Evo boots online. I have a wide foot. Thankfully heat molding seems to have helped considerably. They feel better than I remember my old K2s felt back when I last skated. I'm excited but I'll know for sure when the frames and wheels get here which could be a while (ie. whenever FedEx decides to do their job lol) At any rate I'm locked in because I immediately cut off the appendix toe straps which server no purpose for my foot on skates that are never going to be anything but snug on my EEE wide toes! I do wish one manufacturer made a wide boot. Ideally Altra would make a skate!

I would first have heated up a roundhead metal nut at the end of a bolt and pressed that against the spot, 9 out of 10 the foam compresses that far that its painfree after that and you don't 'destroy' part of the liner, just my thoughts...

I never had such a good power transfer and response with a skate before I tried the Tau's. Unfortunately, I had many pressure points when putting the Tau's on for the first time. Since they fit me well lengthwise, I heat molded them and they opened up in the toe area. BUT, because there's so little padding in the heel/Achilles area, which gave way after heat molding, the back of my feet on both skates are in contact with the carbon plate (I assume). I can't skate more than 15-30 minutes before tapping out and my feet hurt for days afterward. I tried using thicker socks, ankle booties and wrapping my feet with sports tape, but nothing works. Not sure how to save them now, and I'll probably throw the boots away at this point...
@rullikuttАй бұрын
Don't think there are ways to save them cause You tried everything. Ive had skates that have lots of pressure points but I could change the liner. In Taus You can not. I think You should give up before permanent damage to Your feet maybe. I can imagine the frustration.

the boot works fine with me. I have a wide foot & so far fits nice for me. i have yet to heat mould mine yet but for long distance skating can be a little discomfort for me. Still playing around with different setups for the frame but using the decode frames is stable but its too heavy hence less speed. :) 8/10

Can you do 4x90 flat set up?
@seankelly9054Ай бұрын
Yeah. I just bought these frames and the site is horrible for telling you all the options. They have no "user manual" on how to assemble them either. Basically the center wheel axles can be inverted. One way it's 1mm down and the other is flat. There is a small arrow to tell you the direction. But is there anything on that anywhere on the internet? You gotta really dig.
@theupsidedownaustralianАй бұрын
@seankelly9054 yeah bro well that's the same problem I had and didn't want to buy them and risk not being able to run a flat set up so been waiting for someone who owned them to tell me and luckily I found your video! Liked and subscribed in return 😀

I've seen in another video a tip to keep your weight on the non-sliding foot? I assume that is also the case here? I've been trying and I have been saying it feels impossible! I have a million excuses though, my wheels are too new, the ground is too rough, I'm going too slow, my legs are too short, I am too weak, I am too light, I am too old, I will break my knee, I will break my hip and so on ... But I will keep trying! The first technique you showed looks easier, but the second one is easy to remember: "first squat then pee" ...

I love my 3 pairs of Evos, but I think the lack of toe strap on the Sam Croft Evo makes it hard to heatmold the toe box to be snug enough

@@rullikutt Which are more narrow tr10 or hc evo? I would also appreciate it if you tell me the main differences between these two models Thank you.
@stewartcampbell78715 ай бұрын
@@mygamblingstories5765, The HC Evo are slightly more narrow. The main difference is in the padding and the heel lock. Also the Evo took me less heatmoulding than the TR10, which I had to do repeatedly, The TR10 are much more precise and though the Evo are stiff, the carbon cuff makes it TR10 the slightly better skate. Though I will never sell my Evo's. The main difference apart from the last is the top end speed. The TR10 is more like a minimalist speed skate and the Evo while still fast don't have the power transfer. I would advise against wearing more than 2 pairs of socks thought when heatmoulding. I tried it and had to bake them again as they were too baggy after the 3 pairs.
@villumartverk89424 ай бұрын
@@mygamblingstories5765 I have tried Evo, Tau and now, I'm on TR10 - I like this the most. The biggest difference is the carbon cuff - and the stiffness of it - TR10 is the most supportive of them all. The Evo has lower cuff compared to Tau or TR10. Their size chart is a little different. For me the same size TR10 is a bit smaller than Evo.
