Great video. From this I fitted mine last week and all works great. Signed off too with BC.

Did you attach the register plate to the brackets with self tapping screws, presumably with holes that you drilled before putting in the brackets?
@glynjames59482 ай бұрын
Hi paul could you please advise if there’s a 45% connector from the flexible flue liner through the register plate to connect the solid flue from the fire. Thanks Glyn.

very informative video, with a lot of info, Paul. But why is it so important to have the register? What would happen if you didn't bother with it? cheers.
@pgtips92365 ай бұрын
Technically its a closure plate due to the stove being fitted with a flexible liner so can be made from any non combustible material whereas a register plate has to be made from metal & totally air tight to seal between the stove & chimney flue but the reason for fitting one in this scenario is to make the job aesthetically pleasing & catch any soot/loose bricks etc from dropping into the fireplace but the main reason is to prevent heat loss from the stove escaping up the chimney

Hi Paul, does this work for a traditional open fireplace with no door / cover? Or is it only for fireplaces / wood burners with doors? Looks like a good product.

I use baking soda, works every time to stop fire in stove.
@skywatcher31335 ай бұрын
The problem that this product is supposed to stop is a chimney fire. I doubt if throwing baking soda up a blazing 20 or 30 ft. chinnney would do a lot..

What a muppet !! Makes a big song and dance about how sharp the liner is ! Then spends 5 minutes unwinding it in the most ridiculous way ! Only ro then lay all over the exposed sharp liner all-over the floor ! Omd ... 😅😅😅

In Canada a single stainless liner wrapped in insulation is the standard now.

@arsecheese517 ай бұрын
Depends if you want the fitting approved or not
@NewWorldHoarder7 ай бұрын
Fifteen years ago it was a ‘nice to have’ for better draw efficiency at low burning temperatures. These days it seems to be obligatory if you want to work with mainstream sweeps or installers. I guess the sweeps are all on board because it’s a piece of piss to sweep a 10” metal tube compared to a brick chimney.

Hi Paul just about to fit my stove, I’ve lined the opening with Hardie cement board, and will end up with 14cm either side, 18c above but only 3cm at the rear of fire to the wall, is this ok, appreciate your time , Steve

Hi Paul not sure if your still active but I will ask anyway. I just got a new stove and wanted to know if I can have the stove 50mm off the back wall. In the fitting guide it is saying 150mm all around and the obvious 300mm hearth. All the stoves I’ve seen fitted only seem to be 50mm off the back wall? This will obviously help me so I don’t have to bring the heart out so far into the room.

I want one. How do I know if I can or not please someone? My chimney seems to BEND from my living room breast wall to the top of the roof according to google maps. Is a bendy chimney still able to have a flue and burner installed please? Even when it is a shared chimney between neighbours? Complete novice here and my breast isnt even exposed as of yet. This is how early my enquiries are Any advice greatly appreciated 👍🏻
@callumrawlings89458 ай бұрын
A flue liner can absolutely be installed when there are bends, bends in chimneys are increadibly common, if it's extremly bendy it may be the case a 6 inch liner won't be able to fit so you may need a 5 inch, but even that's very unlikely
@bertiesworld7 ай бұрын
My old cottage had a bend, such even a 5 inch liner wouldn't go down. Ended up removing bricks etc to get it down. Luckily the room was bare and the plaster had been stripped of the wall so no worries about mess. Shared chimney, you couldn't use a liner. Do check out stoves and efficiency though. Not all stoves are equal. The stove I fitted into my 2nd cottage was a million miles more advance than the first one. A couple of logs and it would burn for hours. And using anthracite with logs (multi fuel burner) it would burn for a whole day on just one fuelling.
