if we are setting the bar at an entry level squires, the bar is pretty low to clear. anyways ive gotten all my gear from local pawn shops for the past 20 years so i pay 1970's hondo ii prices for decent gear

Totally true, once you go down to the squier debut level, it's not hard to find something a bit better for a bit more money. There's a good little pawn shop near my house too where I sometimes get a nugget of gold, much like an old Hondo or a rare 80's Yamaha.

Nice, I heard Farmington is a nice city, havent been to MS since I was a kid! Actually Fredericton, N.B., old Fredericton High School was my school way back - the biggest and possible worst high school in the British Commonwealth!

@@nilesthrompton ironically the colors of our FHS is black and gold as well. Anyways you have a good KZfaq channel and I like the content. I like tinkering with guitars to make them better. And that's what is good about these cheap guitar's not going to hurt the value any to give it a few upgrades....

Push pulls are amazing for the series mod, you can turn a kind of weak sounding ceramic single coil strat copy into a really full sounding beast!

Anyways it's okay it's another fender copycat guitar probably made with about fifty dollars worth of material just like your average squire guitar I say it's worth from 150-200$. These copies of strats are a dime a dozen these days. What's the fascination about fender anyways?? Want to see what a real guitar is like get a schecter demon six

Sold the guitar a while back as someone made me an offer... And I needed the cash to buy more guitars for the channel! I do have a mustang tremolo that I'm gonna put on a custom build - stay tuned!

for me the FSR bullet mustangs are better as they have a contoured body and a 12" fb radius. Change to whatever pups you want with a pickguard to fit them.

I've bought 3 guitars from Xaviere (gfs) all 3 were good. 2 teles and a Floyd rose lp. A little setup and they were good to go. The pickups seriously overachieve the coil split or tap actually sounds good on the lp. No paulowina either!!

I changed a tele pickup selector to a 6-position rotary knife switch. All the components mount on the switch, except the 6.3 mH printed circuit inductor (no choke in this vid?). The bridge is a dual rail and the neck is a fidelitron. Each pup has a tone pot with a push=pull switch to select withe normal tone roll-off or the varitone (plate has 2 tones and one volume. (Zuwei TL Semi Hollow has a Gretsch-placed neck volume and Gibson-placed pup switch.) Magic!

I thought about putting an inductor on the switch, but just ended up doing a passive circuit. I used an inductor in a prior switch build, but I didn't notice a huge difference.

I was going to do that - but then a viewer reached out and really wanted that guitar so I ended up selling it to them... I am however planning to do a home built version of the mustang in the future (just a 25.5 scale version) which I'll definitely put the tremolo on, so stay tuned for that!

I really like mine, I got the red one as well. I did a few mods. Locking tuners, roller trees, a white pearl pickguard and red metal knobs. Once I got it properly intonated, it's a great guitar. I had 10s on it because I thought short scale guitars needed heavier gauge strings, but I just put a set of 9s on it and it feels so much better. I also have a Bullet Mustang that I turned into a Bullet Mustang-90 with a set of P-90s. Also locking tuners, roller trees, pearl pickguard and metal knobs.

@@Johnny-wx5yz eBay. It's actually for a Fender Mustang so it did require a little work with the jigsaw to cut around the hard tail bridge of the Squier. Also had to drill a couple new screw holes.

Nice tuxedo model. I still have one in a box (unopened) that I bought during Covid. But…. I have like 10 of these too. Make it better by replacing the nut, tuners, & do the Bubba mod🤘🏼

Nice yeah! I've since put a bone nut in this old 51 and will likely put a set of Kluson tuners in there I've had lying around for a decade. The bubba mod is a good idea for this ... I had considered a tele half bridge as well!

Drilling holes in a 6 saddle bridge to turn it into a 3 barrel bridge, to bring the old 3 brass saddles ashtray bridge to any fender style guitar. @-davidolivares

When you cut body for extra space for switches did you noticed the body is made from solid wood or ply?

It's made of solid poplar, I believe it's a 3 piece poplar body. A good tone wood!

@vladalucard7265 For sure, no extra holes needed to be drilled. It was a tiny bit tight on getting the screws into the holes, just because the dimensions are off by a very tiny amount, but just open the screw holes a tiny bit and everything should fit fine.
