Real talk, if you're going into medicine and think of House as a role model, try to stick with the research/technical side of things and inflict your presence on the patients as little as possible.

I really enjoyed this video. In hospitals here in Sweden, I love talking to the staff. Especially doctors...when they have time... so sick / brilliant... humour...lots of them. But do you have exactly the same type of beard? Is it some kind of AI?

I remember giving kids their Covid 19 vaccines in January 2021. One girl (about 10 years old), kept crying and screaming. We couldn’t vaccinate her due to the danger is posed on us with her screaming and moving around.

Why? Why the hell are you drinking so much water... you realize if you drink a gallon of water you can die from "water toximia" a woman trying to win a radio contest died right after the show from downing a gallon of water at once. I drink 24oz. Of water and sometimes only 16oz...a day! it just right for me im 5'9" 180lbs. When I worked on telephone poles id drink about 40oz of water or gatorade. This need to obsess with water is all in your head, YOUR BODY will tell yiu when to drink! Then drink😂

Oh man, I’m late to the party. But there was a case of a man who fell from either a ladder or the roof of a house and landed on a young tree that did in fact go up his backside, just not cleanly at all. He survived.

I manage a restaurant, we have signs that break handwashing down into 9 steps installed above every single sink in the BOH. We have 5 minute videos we make everyone watch when they start about how to wash your hands, we retrain everyone every quarter in handwashing. You would be shocked to learn how many people ive fired because of their inability to wash their hands properly. If I cant trust them to wash their hands right, how can I trust them in any other facet of food safety. makes complete sense to me why you go through handwashing training when starting in a new hospital

Many physicians were like House in the US back when the show aired on TV. But, you'll be hard pressed to find physicians like this anymore. Honestly, I kind of miss it. They were like the only people who could be completely candid with you. Now there's too much coddling.

To be fair, there are a decent amount of people who go back to school later in life. I went back for my degree when I was 37 and I would say on campus about 15% were adult students. I think it is more about having a more focused mindset when older or maybe finances are easier, but it was a great time. Anyways, great reaction. Cheers!

I just visited a private dermatologist office and it wasn’t too far off from that. They had cucumber water and every patient got their own iPad to sign in and do paperwork. Everyone in that place was purposefully beautiful. The doctor had his own female assistant following him around everywhere and he was charging 1200$ per mole removal for non medically necessary removal. So… not too shabby as they say.

I have successfully operated on my ingrown toenails for years… yeah I know I should have them permanently removed but I like my toenails … I just sit on the leg until my foot is good and numb and go at it.. it’s not pretty but it doesn’t hurt as bad as you’d think!

I have read that part of what Dwight says is correct. People who don't use as many hand sanitizers and other things that kill germs have better immune systems. Also, people who take antibiotics several times have weakened immune systems because the antibiotics kill the "good bacteria" in the gut.

2:03 "Are you supposed to do that?" "No, you aren't supposed to do anything negative" Both reinforcement and punishment are a part of how all animals learn, whether you intend to use them or not, so you might as well employ them intentionally. Dogs learn not to do something by having a negative experience with it, even if that negative experience is being held down while someone pulls a choking hazard from his mouth and his humans panic. Or being startled by his human yelling in pain after a too-rough play session. Negative experiences are part of life. Pretending dogs shouldn't be told "no" is just another version of saying children shouldn't be told "no". You shouldn't teach a dog not to communicate his feelings, but dogs growl for more reasons than just fear. As a dog groomer, my least favorite kind of dog is one that has been taught not to growl, because then I have no warning before a bite, and all dogs bite when stressed enough. "Everything they do is for a reason" may be true, but most of the time the reason is "I didn't know I wasn't supposed to do that, because nobody has told me yet." If a dog steals food from the counter, the reason is obviously that it's food and he's a dog, not that he isn't getting enough to eat and was simply solving the problem himself. Chewing on inappropriate things, escaping, barking, chasing after other animals, etc. are all normal dog behaviors that need to be dealt with, not ignored or praised. Discipline is part of raising a living thing in a society. I would've thought someone with an advanced degree would have a bit more critical thinking when researching a subject with multiple scientifically supported methods. Looking at positive-only training and concluding that's the only way to train all dogs, and then speaking on the subject on the internet as an expert is biased and foolish. Maybe try talking to a balanced dog trainer and asked to meet the trainer's dog before publicly condemning the natural way animals learn. And unless you're going to cite the expert you're quoting, you may want to stick to your fields of expertise when giving advice on the internet, lest viewers take an amateur's opinion as an experienced one.

Hi, can u and you a few questions? I’m keen on doing psychiatry after I start and complete medical school (still in secondary) and I’m just a bit stuck As a psychiatrist, do you actually provide therapy to patients? Or is that pushed onto someone else? I’m not getting a clear answer online on what psychiatrists do, all it talks about is medication What exactly does your job role? Like do you provide talking therapy?

You must be in London or one the more well off parts of the country. In my area, nobody talks about any of that. Nobody follows up or checks on you. Therapy is rationed. And thats if it hasn't already been destroyed by funding cuts. And the moment any of them hear you dont want to take mind altering medications, you never hear from them again. Ive never seen the same GP more than once in my life because they cant wait to get away from the surgeries. So everytime theres the same, long explanation of why im there etc. Those symptome you mentioned (aswell as others) ive had almost all my life. Ive been severely depressed since i was about 10. Started when i was 8. Becuase of anxiety and other things, i only started trying to get help when i was 19. Its over 10 years now since and still no help. No matter who im referred too, ive been to some rationed therapists who just told me not to come back because they cant help. NHS( or at least the people who they work with in my area) wont offer any support or therapy unless you swallow the pills. Its a joke. And even if youre lucky enough to have a GP in your area that stays for a bit and is willing to openly offer to refer you somewhere, or one organisation passes you to another organisation under the guise of "they have better facilities to help people like you" which is just code for 'we dont want to deal with you'. When you get there, they ask why you're there and your mind is so foggy and full of anxiety and its racing because youre on a very short time limit or youre worried youll say the wrong thing so all you can say is "because i was told to". Then they think you shouldnt be here dye to a mistake and remove you from their list, and even if you manage to get back in touch with them, or your GP does, you are at the back of the line. Which is another 6-12 months of your life wasted, just sitting and waiting for a call that, 99% of the time, never comes. And people wonder why there are so many people on benifits who have given up trying. They've fell through the cracks and been left behind. Sometimes they were allowed to fall. Currently with midland mencap for over 2 years now... the people who are assigned to me dont know what they are doing and never initiate contact even after months of going silent. Even though they always say they will check back in a week or two with updates. But i have anxiety issues so i cant tell them. Or their people, as angry and upset as i am, i dont want someone to get fired. You'd have to be the type of person who commits suicide to even get an appointment. Which is ironic considering if you were that type of person, you'd never get that appointment... Getting help takes ages. But the quality of mental health help in the UK is like a drive through at at a fast food restaurant after 8pm. Very few words are spoken and you're moved along so fast that when you finally get a chance to stop and dig in, you realise youll be lucky if you even get one bite that isnt stale, cold and unusable. Defeated by the entire process that you dont have the energy, wilpower and even faith that if you complained, things would be any different. So give up, accept its rubbish abd that it just isnt going to go well fir you, and dont try it again.
