Another Banger coach thanks for looking for base offense once scoring in transition doesn't work. I got a lot of DVDs from championship production but I still don't know if the guys I have can pull it off. I'm looking to run blitz offense and University of Houston defense I have athletic long wings and forwards lacking true point guard next few years. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or thoughts.

You have to reach out to me sometime coach. If you have my instagram or facebook message me there so we can talk hoops. You know your team best and what their capabilities are. Find the offense and defense that fits and run with it. One thing I would say is it is possible to run one offense against man and one against zone. Hope to hear from you soon.

Excellent video. I would like to expand a bit on the last point, particularly situations. (1) One weakness I don't think you mentioned re zones is susceptibility to offensive rebounding. Obviously, to the extent you crash the boards you need to be mindful of court balance. If you have good speed and smart players at guard and at your 3, they can often find opportunities for weak-side offensive rebounds; (2) in regards to the clock, if your opponent is playing fast and especially if they have a speed advantage and/or they are either thin on the bench or not in good condition, throwing that ball around that zone and making them work can pay big dividends, especially come the fourth quarter; and (3) on penetration, look to attack the weak sister on defense. If you know you have an edge in quickness at one of the wings or on the baseline, use that -- and practice having your shooters find wide open gaps as that penetration begins. Statistically, at least from what I know shots off a wide open 3 off of a pass out from the interior of a zone are made at a higher rate and it also helps break down the morale of the opponent.

thank you we are really young we have low basketball IQ that's what I'm focusing on this summer. 7 sophomores 4 juniors 1 seniors that didn't start last season. The rest of the team are freshmen and are all bench players now they learning how to play basketball this summer we have practice on Tuesday, and Thursday every week, and on Sunday open gym I average 10 guys every practice. We will get there. I just took this team over this year I see the potential I got to get them to believe in themselves mostly they have to believe they can accomplish great things.

Nice. Do you assign positions? Is this a 3-out/2-in formation always or is there flexibility on your team within the flow?
@championshiphoops3191Ай бұрын
See this offense as your foundation and then build from there. Yes we assign spots on the floor. Specifically we will determine who is in the nail and flank. Traditionally, it is a 3 out 2 in offense. However you can change it to 4 out 1 in or 5 out while using the same principles and concepts. Explaining the variations sounds like a good video idea.

@championshiphoops31912 ай бұрын
In terms of confidence its reps whether that’s shooting, dribbling, passing, or defending. Give them reps and praise them when they do well. As far as playing the game and making the right plays put them in situations in practice where they have to make reads. Such as when to shoot, attack, or pass. Let me know if this answers your question. Feel free to join the Facebook group for more discussion on topics like this …. facebook.com/share/eFSrFw6v5hJKpa79/?mibextid=K35XfP

Stepping up your Video Production Game, great job Coach! I just finished my first-ever season coaching High School (Varsity and Minis), and a couple of your videos were extremely helpful, we used your offense against zone and the 1-2-2 Zone Press. Next Season I'll be focusing on Run & Jump Full Court Defense and still mixing in Zone Presses to give a different look.

@@championshiphoops3191 what your philosophy coach? Send 1,2, or 3 back in transition? I like 3 crashers & 2 get back men. The point and weak side guard.
@championshiphoops31913 ай бұрын
@@alewis205 we will always send just 1 back and stick to our transition principles. Sprinting back, loading up to the ball, and communicating to get matched up. But if a team is really good in transition I will send 2 back at all times just to eliminate transition points and make them play in the half court.

Any footage of attacking a better 1-3-1 zone? Bad defence is bad defence. Any footage vs a more extended 131 where the point of the defence is taller or more athletic?
@championshiphoops31915 ай бұрын
We can’t control the other teams and how they play defense. Regardless of how they extend or their personnel this is how we would attack them. We attack the 1-3-1 in 3 different ways. There are two videos on the channel. A third one will be dropping soon.

Excellent & easy to understand video! In your opinion, would this be too difficult to teach a 4th grade boys team?…unfortunately every team we play against plays a zone defense.

Awesome video! Question...can this be used against a 3-2 or 1-2-2 zone D?
@championshiphoops31917 ай бұрын
You can you just have to change the front. You have to be in a 2-1-2 set. We just learned some new spacing that we use this year against off front defenses. It’s really good. Video about it will be out soon.

I’m my Zone offense I have the opposite big flash from block so each big is taking turns flashing forming an X. In this offense better to just keep the same big at the foul line?
@championshiphoops31918 ай бұрын
I think it’s whatever fits your team best. If you have two players you like in the high post then sure flash them. Either way will work if you just maintain spacing and the other dives to the goal on the catch

That worked only because the top player didn’t cover the elbow when the ball went into the corner. He came out a guarded a man who was not in shooting range leaving the most vulnerable spot open on the floor.

This does not address when teams extend the 1-3-1 to trap high... Most teams now trap 30 feet from the rim and do not lay back and just let you dribble to get offense running
