What's weird about me is I can only comfortably wear clothes that most people consider uncomfortable and neurotypical "casual" clothes feel awful on me. Can't stand jeans, sweatclothes, any kind of pants, really. My outfit consists of a green raincoat (mid-thigh length) over a tank top and miniskirt (at home I ditch the undergarments and just wear the raincoat by itself) with green rain boots (used to be riding boots until I found these rain boots). I don't know why but the only thing I like wearing is this heavy PVC raincoat with no lining. I actually like the sensation of being all sweaty but only "raincoat on all day" sweaty (can't stand being workout sweaty for some reason). I love the feel of the material and I just feel safe, like everything's right in the world. When I don't have my raincoat on, I'm miserable (as an adult, the only time I don't have it on is in the shower, obvious reasons). I also kind of treat my raincoat like it's a dress.

Woooo cannot wait!!! I agree with all the changes as well (having seen it in Hamburg too😏), but I do think 'To Be Human' should stay. It did drag a bit in German but I think a lot of that comes down to literally not having a clue what was being said. We all need the opportunity to have a little cry and empathise with Hercules finally accepting himself and 'To Be Human' does that and brings the pace down just for a few minutes in a perfect way before the big finale. As great as Go the distance is, I think it's a bit too triumphant for what's wanting to be achieved in this moment.

This was a great video. I’m a massive Apple fan, so had obviously watched the Apple Event yesterday. However, the way you’ve explained all this was very good and more understandable. I think there will be a lot which could be very beneficial for us Autistic people like this.

Gonna be honest here (uh oh! An Autistic person being brutally honest? How shocking!) Not a fan of the burning lanyard footage. As an American who doesn't see the sunflower lanyard outside of well...my own usage. I will admit that the lanyard is a good way to let people know that we as people with hidden disabilities exist. However, with that said, this program is still very unfamiliar territory to many people and I think that's why it's important to make people aware of what it's actually used for and who it's supposed to help.

Interesting theory and great explanation! You made an error in your graphic (two autistic perceptions). It was nonetheless understandable.

It's almost 2024 as I write this. Now and ever, the "Sunflower Lanyard" was originally invented by criminal scammers to cash in on disabled people who may have actually not been able to wear a face mask during the covid pandemic. Now and ever, it has never been officially recognised by any regulatory body. It does not require any medical evidence to obtain. It does not give you any special privilege. Even during the pandemic, if you were not able to wear a mask and had medical evidence to back that up. All you had to do was say so. There was never any magic pass. The process would need to be that the police take your details, check with your doctor for exemption, and you're good to go. I've never heard of even that ever happening.

"Sunflower lanyard" the symbol is the "sunflower icon"... Your BERATING someone from getting it wrong while getting it wrong. Badge, Armband, T-Shirts, Hats, stickers it's all the sunflower symbol.

This is helpful I think. Do you know of any research that backs this idea up or is this just your idea (obviously from your lived experience and that of people you know)? And how do you think this can be used to explain our need for structure and routine? Is it that our autistic brains need to know whats coming next because we don't as easily assume or predict whats coming next based on preconcieved ideas?
@ConnorWardUK
@ConnorWardUK 10 ай бұрын
Thank you! Research… nope, I really wish there was. I suppose we have lots of things that suggest we go for a more literal interpretation of the world, a more unfiltered experience some could argue. Any clinical diagnosis too I believe tries to look for this single idea over and over again in different parts of life and different tasks. I can only say it works for me as a professional in the field and that many other professionals have seen it over the last year and agreed. I hope to do something more with it at some point. In terms of structure etc… that’s very much coming in my further content as I’ll be applying this theory to all 3 areas of need. But for a quick top level summary… I believe that as humans our reaction to uncertainty is anxiety. We try to reduce anxiety in several methods one of which is structure and routine. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to assume if the brain can see more detail it can therefore see more uncertainty in the world in any given moment, more frequently and more in depth. It then seems only natural we would have to rely more on methods to reduce uncertainty more in this world. I hope that makes sense? I really enjoyed responding to this comment, thank you! It’s the kind of conversation I wanted to spark with this content :)

I am an autistic creator living in Yorkshire (I'm going to hold on giving my real name, as if my channel gets off the ground, part of it kinda requires me to keep that under wraps). Unfortunately where I live here in Calderdale, support is extremely limited, unless you happen to be a child. It did surprise me as well that this lack of support extended to the Calderdale branch of NAS (although from the sounds of it, thanks to a number of articles in their magazine, NAS has acknowledged that this is an issue they haven't addressed, and that they're looking to do so). I've been wanting to get into video creation, but I have a lot of anxiety that tends to get in the way of my creativity. I also find that warm weather (such as the exceptionally unusual weather we've had recently) tends to aggravate my shut-downs, and even if I cool down my environment, I tend to find that the damage has been done, and it's extremely difficult to start back up again. Would be great to see if there's any advise on getting back into gear...

This was amazing! What a fancy-looking video; you definitely have an eye for design Connor :) I'm an autistic girl living in the UK and your videos were some of the first I stumbled across when looking for autistic creators. You're great!! I also try and make my own videos (if only I could manage my time better...that comorbid ADHD comes on strong sometimes!) Good luck with your new KZfaq direction, it's fab

Welcome back! :D Don't be afraid to ramble now and then, it's all good! I've been considering making one-take content, but even that I've found intimidating, so my channel has only a whopping ONE video on it, lol. But I'm hoping I can get some inspiration from this channel going forward, because doing stuff in one take sounds like a really cool idea. Once again, Connor, welcome back! 😁
