Gotta watch Exandria: An Intimate History and EXU: Calamity VM actually had a ton of healing at the table, even if it wasn’t used efficiently: Ranger, Bard, Druid, Cleric, Paladin. Plus Matt kept them stocked up with items. On the show, all magic users are significantly de-powered for story

“No one cares about you. I am no different.” - Asysa Most people especially those who are new don't truly understand what those comments mean. It's not true that no one cares about Scanlan but deep down inside this is the way he feels. He truly doesn't think that Vox Machina loves him. He's just comedic relief and if he left no one would give it a second thought. I can't wait for his story unfold. I think many of the people who don't like Scanlan now will eventually fall in love with him once they understand him better. I hope the writing does a good job portraying his feelings about himself. They have only touched on it so far. Hints but nothing more. Super minor Spoiler: On a side note. My favorite episode of Critical role is the "cupcake" episode. I won't even say what campaign to keep it vague. My second favorite episode is the "Wish" episode. It broke my heart seeing Sam Regal actually cry in this one. Not Scanlan crying but Sam Regal. A truly human moment between two real life friends that makes me cry every time I see it.

This was my second favorite episode of season 1 and 2. We have not seen my favorite episode yet.

In the original campaign I didn't like Keyleth very much. In this show she is my favorite. Of I'm being honest I just didn't understand her character originally. But in this show it shines through like a beacon of light. Amazing writing and voice acting by Marisha.

lost it as the "let me cook" moment. This episode was a surprise to campaign 1 watchers as well. the dragon attack and Kamal's death didn't happen, neither did the party split for the feywild. the sword stab occurred, but the context was different.

"Song for Osysa" is amazing and I really wish they'd been able to maybe add one more verse and release that for radio play. I'm almost positive the line "staring at the hourglass" is a reference to the campaign, where there was a timed challenge to get to Kamaljiori. I do enjoy the factoid that Kamaljiori (Tony Plana) and Alanna Ubach (Osysa) both appeared together in the movie Bombshell, as Geraldo Rivera and Jeanine Pirro respectively. They were also both on the West Wing, but not at the same time. The dream from the cold open was almost a perfect representation of what Matt gave Travis in the campaign - and Pike ended up impaled by Craven Edge there too (albeit under different circumstances).

Very vague spoiler. . . . . . . . . . . . Nicole is really not going to like what Vax sees in Episode 12.

The „wisest sage“ thing is especially funny when you know that Scanlan‘s wisdom score is like a 7.

You asked what are you going to do when you're caught up? Well, I just binged the new Netflix live action version of 'One Piece' and it was amazing. Wild and Crazy as all get out, but full of heart, cool characters, and plenty of hidden depths. For the record I do not have any real knowledge of the manga or anime, I mean I knew they existed, I just have not viewed either myself. And while I could tell that established fans would be catching tons of references to the other versions; it didn't make me feel left out or like I was missing important information for the story I was watching. Honestly, I think you would both enjoy it, but you have to understand going in that it's not a live action VERSION of an anime... it's a live action ANIME, so expect reality defying delights.

Great reactions. If it makes you feel better, in the campaign, the dragon didn't fight or kill the sphinx. They added a lot here for character development and to raise the stakes. :) So in an alternate reality he is okay.

You called it well with the emotional damage line. More importantly, do you remember the conversation with Osysa back in episode 2? She told them "Thought it pains me, we have to stay apart" (or something very close to that.) She gave them the answer! It pains her, a sphinx! I love this and all the other foreshadowing you can see when re-watching this a few times.

This series, and season 2 in particular, is rife with great music and what I found the best, is yet to come. #killbox #iykyk

I feel like they over corrected a bit in the show to help people see how great Keyleth is, unfortunately a bit at the expense of Vex a little bit. The part in either this episode or the last where Scanlan makes a suggestion that the party doesn't like and then blames Keyleth was a callout to how Keyleth always got unfairly blamed for everything, even things others also did or even things that she didn't do at all.

Vax and Vex's father's name is Vassar, but neither of them use that last name because of their past.

I still hope we get a Kaer in the show, Patrick Rothfuss would be an amazing addition ^_^

So I'm like a week late, and I also don't see any explanation of the Calamity here. So this is going off my memory and may not be 100% correct. The gods are not from Exandria. They are from somewhere else entirely that we aren't really sure of yet. We know why they came to Exandria (though this is super spoilerific so I will not say it). When they arrived, the Primordials (Elemental Titans) were slumbering, but soon grew annoyed as the gods created mortals and such, to the point where they fought back. Those gods who sided with the Primordials were banished and became the Betrayer gods. Humanity got super duper advanced during this time, which was also a boon to the banished Betrayers. The Betrayers manipulated mortals to bring them back and this is how the Calamity, the war of the gods began. The Calamity wasn't an overnight event. It took place over hundreds of years, it was a full blown war. Gods vs gods, worshippers vs worshippers. Champions vs Champions. The Matron of Ravens wasn't born a god, but was a mortal who ascended. And for a bit of added context, the gods were very much physical beings at this time. They weren't just figures you pray to. However after the Calamity, to prevent anything like this from happening again, the Prime Deities banished themselves from the world, as well as the Betrayers, which is why now they are figures of prayer and such. Every Critical Role campaign is technically in a post-apocalyptic setting. There are no more flying cities. An entire continent got blown up. Large amounts of knowledge has been lost. Vasselheim was confident that dragons would not destroy them because the Gods and their followers could not. They survived an assault. They are still standing to this day.

There's something about meeting Keyleth's great, supportive dad right after we get introduced to Vex and Vax's dad.

I'm pretty sure with it's just a matter of "Half-Elf + Half-Elf = Half Elf". I'm not sure if Tal'Dorei, but I'm pretty sure in base D&D Kiki's dad shouldn't be able to grow that beard of his if he is all elf.

When they began streaming, the first big quest we saw Vox Machina on, was them being send by Allura to find her Paladin 'friend'. The later reveal of their relationship was celebrated by the cast.

you also have Aimee Carrero in this episode briefly, the Ashari that Pike saved who cried "Mother!", giving us a full EXU team with Matt, Ashley, Liam and Robbie. "Flush of Love"... really Sam, why is that Outhouse song so beautiful? Allura and Kima were sort of shown as each other's dates to the Feast of Realms, but love that pairing. I'd love to see a series of them and their adventuring party some day.

Thordak was not originally from the plane of fire. He lived on Exandria, fought with Kima and Allura’s group, and was then banished to the plane of fire. From there he escaped (with help from someone posing as a fire ashari).

I 100% think that Vax & Keyleths first Kiss will be in the final episode of Vox Machina.
