Just the way this movie played out. He knew he had only three options. 1. Convince Wick to let it go without issue and pay him handsomely. 2. Give his son up to Wick. 3. Fight. He tried one, it didn't work so he chose the third option and lost everything.

It is not the Sons mistake. The dad should have had a shrine of John wick made and should have ensured that his son worships there every day.that would have saved lives of many people, his business, his life and a pups life.

This scene is the single most powerful scene in the entire John Wick franchise. A perfect intro to a character who is about to unleash his fury. All the actors in this scene have played their part exceptionally well, it couldn't have been any better.

wat? john wick cannot kill without a pencil ? That shows John Wick is less efficient than Commandos, Navy Seals, and martial arts exponents of eg. Kung Fu, Karate, TaeKwanDo, etc, who have skills to kill bare-handed.
