Pretty agreeable video for me, lots of good takes Daedalus is a figure from Greek myths, pronounced “deh-duh-lis” (I think; I might be wrong)

Yea I’ve seen a lot of hate for the track and honestly I don’t get it. It’s not the greatest thing in the world, but it’s definitely not bad

@BowtiedMedia agreed but I think people just don't like the track because of how its lead sounds like or something.

Daeya’s album was a real disappointment for me. Acrylic Love is one of my favourite songs. When it came out I would listen to it at least once a day for a few solid months. Their stuff after that never quite hit the same way, but one thing you can’t deny is that every track he made towards the end of DDD and into his rebrand could only have been made by him. His style is so set apart from the landscape around him that even tracks I don’t vibe with are unmistakably his. Then he comes out with an album with the literal subheading “Era Reversal” and creates a bunch of tracks where the drops could have been made by anyone. It’s clearly a concept album. I think it’s telling a story of DDD coming back and taking over the Daeya persona. Vengeance Fixation is the album closer, thus the long outro. I think it’s supposed to be Daeya confronting DDD and finally laying him to rest after he goes crazy on the rest of the album. The bassless hardcore section reads like a desperate cry that gets weaker and weaker until finally it dies, leading into the piano coda that directly calls back to Acrylic Love. However, as a fan of that song and after hearing nothing like that on the rest of the album, I can’t help but take it as a Kanye-style shitpost that taunts me with what I couldn’t have. I really hope this was some kind of last hoorah for DDD and not some kind of course correction steering back into a far less original sound.

Lyrics are wonderful, production is meaningful, and i definitely agree that the singles for this album are looking good. I really loved the way he processed his vocals in this one's chorus. It just feels larger and grander than some of his past songs . Looking forward to this next album. A lot of my friends say that EDEN has quote "fallen off because noone listens to his music" but i think he's still think he's got it.

In terms of artists specifically loved by the EDM community, it’s hard to argue anyone bigger than Skrillex/Porter. At least for those at specifically seek out and love EDM

It's interesting how divisive this album has been. I've watched a ton of reactions and reviews to it since it dropped and even the standout tracks you'd think most people would like have been really contentious. There's some who absolutely love Year of the Cup and the Lil Wayne sample sections specifically while hating on Russian Roulette and Knock Yourself Out, while others like yourself see it completely the opposite not liking Year of the Cup as much. Personally I agree with your take that the Lil Wayne interview samples go on for too long, and I'd even go so far to say I'd probably really like Year of the Cup if it was re-cut without the interview samples (either entirely cut, or keeping just the instrumental during those parts), or possibly if Porter did his own spoken sections on it rather than Lil Wayne (and fewer of them), similar to the teeth section in Kitsune Maison which I felt had way more impact as part of the song than the interview samples which kind of just take me out of the song. Ultimately though, I do see Nurture as a more cohesive project. Smile sometimes feels a bit more like an EP or LP with some tracks just feeling like they're not entirely part of the same theme as some others.

Hey!! I saw your comment on a video talking about SixImpala's 3rd album ages ago, and I can agree with you and say similar things about that even if I'm a superfan of them, I wanted to like it more than I should've, but it is not up to the level of Rubber or anything of the sort. I'm still pretty happy about their new direction, same with Porter, both albums are growers for me, and that's okay!!

What's crazy is that Porter has invented like 3 genres. He coined the term complextro, Worlds is extremely unique, but set a lot of trends and was very influential for a great deal of music in the EDM scene, particularly future bass. And Nurture, while it wasn't botanica itself, singlehandedly created the genre. Smile is also unlike anything I've heard before. I'm going to call it "glitch-pop" until someone corrects me.
