Can annual tears be so small that radiolgist misses it? My pain Dr says I have a tiny one at L5-S1, on the cord side, and that is causing my symptoms, and recommeds an injection. Then PRP a couple of months later.

My pain doctor has recommended injection for a tiny Annular Tear. The MRI shows the rest of the lumbar pine with mild issues, so neuro surgeon sent me to pain management. The tear is on the cord side. Are you almost 100% against injection? My pain is chronic for years, could live with it, but just getting worse and the good days are almost zero.

Imagine going through 26 years of schooling and another half decade of work experience to become a neurosurgeon only to see 4 or 5 chiropractors online with 1+ subs and passive monthly KZfaq earnings in the 6 figures. I’d be skeptical too. Curious what the numbers look like now, must be hundreds, if not thousands of licensed chiropractors doing this now. Haven’t heard of a single death occurring from this adjustment, but have seen many people get relief from this.

@@DeukSpineInstitute Thanks for responding doc. Now that I have your attention, what would you say to the veterans that receive substantial pain relief from this treatment after countless doctors were unable to do so without the use of dangerous pain medication? Let’s face it, your risk assessment doesn’t investigate the reasons why this manipulation is so popular, how many people have received relief from lt, and how many people have had complications from it. If the treatment was paralyzing people left and right, don’t you think we would hear more about it and that these KZfaq chiropractors would be in jail? I’ve often heard the Y strap described as playing Russian roulette, however can safely say that 1 in 6 patients are not being killed, so what’s the real reason you and so many others are skeptical and unwilling to explore the benefits of a ringer dinger 😂 Compare to the alternatives to why someone would try this out. You have no numbers to back up your claims since there haven’t been studies on it. A healthy skepticism is fine but be honest that you don’t actually know HOW dangerous these manipulations are. You’re using your own medical experience and biases to give people insight into the risks involved. According to one study published by JNS on “Measuring surgical outcomes in neurosurgery” approximately 95% have no complications. If you factor in mortality rates, of ~1.0% for elective spinal surgery. So we generally know how safe neurosurgery is, but can’t say with any degree of confidence how dangerous a Y strap is. I find it hard to believe you would waste your time studying osteopathic spinal decompression techniques and compare the risks involved. Or waste your time exploring osteopathic spinal decompression techniques. Consider that the Y strap is fairly new name for this adjustment, the actual technique has been around for 60 or 70 years and done on thousands of people. Should someone wish to collect the data, by all means go ahead and show us. But until then, quit pretending like people should be 100% confident that you’re 100% right in your POV.

I do believe chiropractic has its place. It seems like a lot of injuries are caused by lack of alignment. If you are aligned, seems like life is better. I think a lot of ppl forget that in order to be aligned,.you need to exercise and have strong muscles. Strong muscles mean strong foundation. Which ultimately will keep you aligned. Exercise is huge when it comes to healing. When I had terrible back pain, I went to PT and focused on strength training. That's what cured me. But yea, i can't talk now because I don't exercise as much anymore. Lol! So don't mind me as I drink my mocha frappe. Lol hey I just my 6th baby, give a mom a break...I planning to start working out again in a couple of weeks! Don't judge me! Lol :(
