Hi Simon. Love your videos. However can you give some context to the shafts. Which ones are best for which swing speeds 🙏. And what are their price ranges to have them fitted per club ? Thank you

Who cares, move up a tee box. I’ll be moving from the black tips 7200 yds to the next gold and play 6800 instead.

Ball changes are usually due to manufacturing and materials, just how much were a dozen balata compared to a pro v1? Increased ball size only improved the chance to find the ball for the average golfer.

I use stiff flex in all my clubs exept my driver which I need to change what issues will using regular be causing
@Precision_Golf
@Precision_Golf Күн бұрын
For flex alone only feeling softer, possibly a hair more flight but the flex will only very marginally affect direction and flight. If you react to the soft feeling shaft by backing off the swing then that will cause the bigger misses

Love the video - wish the amateurs would also play the old balata as you could move them around much more - bought a dozen on eBay and planning to have a fun game with my buddies - but around Sunningdale Heath so not the distance your require around the Old so should be fun - can’t wait - nice video Simon and I will take those carries 😀😀

Hi Simon. This is potentially a good comparison, but I would be very surprised if the roll back ball isn't using a modern exterior to help with longevity. I can only imagine the backlash if the roll back started costing people more money due to the issues you outlined! If they use a modern outer layer then I would imagine that the spin figures wouldn't be as exaggerated as those achieved with the balata.
@Precision_Golf
@Precision_Golf Күн бұрын
Absolutely true, until they release it there is nothing to test with so as we had done balatas we thought it would be an interesting comparison to what used to be used
@kierankenny
@kierankenny Күн бұрын
@@Precision_Golf Oh absolutely, it was still a very interesting comparison even just for some additional context regarding how that much more spin with the same club affects the flight dynamics and outcome. Keep up the great work!

I'd like Pro Tournament ball particularly for say the Masters and Open. Let rip if they like at the US with narrower fairways. I don't believe Amateurs and Pros have to play the same ball all the time.
@Precision_Golf
@Precision_Golf Күн бұрын
It’s a very fair point and one that I myself have strongly felt. Most amateur players do not need to lose any performance but it is also now impossible to argue that with the distance the top players hit it, unless they get Troon-like conditions, they just render most courses obselete

Played balata balls in the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. Titleist 90 red, 100 black, Maxfli, Slazenger. They’d dent or cut if you just looked at them wrong. But we didn’t know anything else. Then along came those Pinnacle rock hard balls.

I think the better video for this would be do a fitting with a rolled back ball. I bet with a 6-7 degree driver, the stronger lofted and faster ball speed clubs delofted, etc... will prove that their idea of rolling the ball back will not matter. Also the idea between elevation changes on tour will not allow a consistent rollback. There will need to be new balls for each course they play practically.
@Precision_Golf
@Precision_Golf Күн бұрын
Once the rolled back balls are released that will be possible to test

The backspin issue will be exacerbated in those tournaments where wind can be significant if rollback ball uses increased spin to reduce distance.

I support the argument for bifurcation. There's no reason to roll the ball back for amateur golfers and the ball manufacturers already have up to eight or nine models they currently produce. The cost of producing a ball for the pro tours only wouldn't add a great deal to the cost amateur golfers pay per ball.
@benediktgoldkamp3200

First the ball, then maybe they will lift the COR restriction for amateurs, then bring back square grooves for amateurs, what will be next? One thing I love about golf is that I can test myself on the same courses with the same equipment and (sometimes) even same course conditions against my idols, the best players in the world. As a serious amateur player, I would under the new rules fall in a bracket where I would have to play with the roled back ball at times, then with current balls in another event. I don’t like it one bit!

Interesting video, if I saw correctly,... your box ProV1x's are RCT balls. Obviously balata doesn't have RCT, do you have way to compensate for the non RCT tech in the balata balls ?
@Precision_Golf
@Precision_Golf 2 күн бұрын
Yes, a foil dot is applied to the ball and the result is the same as RCT internally

I was going to ask this very question on your monday show. Will the rollback hurt fitting sessions and golf instruction? If buyers think that they will not gain any distance why go through a fitting but then again vice versa they want to get the most out of each club.
@Precision_Golf
@Precision_Golf 2 күн бұрын
Not at all, depending on how they limit performance it will mean the parameters we term “optimal” will shift but the relevance of fitting and coaching will remain exactly the same as played will still want your optimise their clubs for them and get swing technique as good as possible

@Precision_Golf
@Precision_Golf 2 күн бұрын
The wedge groove rule did change and as a result all wedges for the last number of years have been confirming to the new rules. What happens is that the manufacturers find ways of getting back a good amount of the initial performance loss over time
