If I was listening to this with no idea who it was, I could picture Steve Vai playing this. So I would put it in the same style. (Not comparing just saying). It also reminds me of the Black page by Frank Zappa. It must be experienced not explained :)

Every recording of Allan Holdsworth that I come across is a reminder to me that we will never hear anyone touch the guitar again like this man did, at least not in this life.
@Alun495 күн бұрын
The restrictions he placed upon himself, like never bending notes, only plucking chords, allowed him to create an utterly original style. A true guitarists guitarist. For many serious players, he was seen as the best. Such a terrible loss when he died.

His noodling is interesting, I can’t follow it myself. I feel nothing. It’s like a robot hooman hybrid having an orgasm. There’s texture and organization rhythmically, somewhere in that chromaticism maybe there is some harmony I can’t glean. Feels beyond. I need melody and rhythm to be salient and discernible to my ears. Is it an impressive performed math

Eddie Van Halen really looked up to Allen, but at the same time Eddie had absolutely no idea what in the f’n hell Allen was doing. Lol

It's like listening to an autistic child tell you about his pokemon collection. It sounds like it should mean something, it looks spectacular and unbelievably complex, and there is just such an incomprehensible amount of it. But, I've got to be frank, I don't get it. I can't make hide nor hair of it.

Frank Zappa once lauded him on the guitar as “The most interesting guys on guitar on the planet!!” Robben Ford said “I think he is the John Coltrane of the guitar! I don’t think anyone can do as much with the guitar as Allan Holdsworth can”!👍👍

He was the real king of jazz guitar for me.An impressive guitarist
In terms of making guitar playing an 'accessible hobby' from 'Day One', Allan will either inspire a new generation, or else, deter forever! Let's face it, his style is not for everyone! A Master Musician and, let's face it, not many understand what he's doing. It really is 'alien' to almost everyone.

One day, about 200,000 years from now, pan-dimensional geometric, crystalline entities will quantum tunnel into our reality and tell us all just what the actual fuck the is going on here. For now though, they're just as stumped as us. RIP Alan.
