I live in zone 8 - if it does freeze here will the vine come back if it dies to the ground? Our freezes in las cruces nm last around 5 hrs max at night plus sometimes we can get up to 110 in the summer - thank you for your video, loved it and will look out for more😊

Oooohh! Nice!! I grow the majority of my orchids in leca but recently did this for someone else's orchids who brought me a container with no drainage. I used lava rock instead of leca because I dont know if the owner knows about evaporative cooling of the leca etcetc. They look beautiful though! 😍

We do have them growing around here in south Hillsborough and Pinellas counties as trees and they do pretty well. They probably dont fulfill their size potential but they handle our odd cold weather days ok. I’m putting one in my front yard in tree form soon and we’ll see how it does!

I'm glad I saw this video. So now I know I absolutely need to cut and prune this down a lot. My home builders used this tree and although it looks nice now, but it's too close to my patio and house and can damage it.

I like the yellow ones with a red center. My remaining orchid is in a orchid mix (pine bark etc.) I bought an orchid fertilizer (blue crystals) and dissolve some crystals in water and transfer the light blue water in a spray bottle and spray the orchid roots that are above the orchid mix two to three times a week just to wet them down. That way, only little water trickles down in the pine bark mix. So far the Phalaenopsis is doing fine.

Great video, very informative. I gave up on orchids grown in soil,but now I will try Leca and believe I will have success following your instructions . I am going to transfer my Hoya to Leca as well as I presume the Hoya behind you are in leca. Thank you for ALL your videos!!!!I like the vibrant colors, the yellow or solid red.

Hi Sir, How about watering if the orchid is attached to the tree? My watering system is 1x in a weeks for 1 h. Also another question what if u could answer, i’d be happy: can i place the orchids on a not fully grown tree? Thank you!
@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN
@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN 7 күн бұрын
Hi there! On water system, I would increase the days you water from 1 to 4 but reduce the time to ~10 mins. Then see how your orchid responds and adjust time up or down to meet your orchid's needs. on putting an orchid on a not fully grown tree, yes you can add, but make sure you add to a branch or trunk that has a woody texture (not green). 😀🪴

Hello from the Wild West of dry/hot Texas. I rescued a B. Karst from a Big Box store last year and placed her in a Ceramic pot. Brought her in for the winter and she’s been quite happy. Now here’s my quandary, the latest Bougies are being brought in from Mexico. I’ve purchased from 2 separate nurseries and all of the Bougies are coming in with this strange peat moss mix that is stuck to the root ball and when dry it literally pulls apart like dry cotton. It’s horrible stuff, almost like the plugs I’ve removed from some of my exotic indoor plants. I wish I had the exact name of the medium being used. I am literally having to water every day and sometimes twice a day because of this junk. Thankfully I’m not scared to do a full root ball rehab with the soil ratio you listed here. Wish me luck and for any advice on what’s being used, please by all means chime in.

Why do you not grow in water? Please do a video of growing Hoya in water or at least a comparison of water to soil. Do plants grow the same size in water as soil? I’m trying water but no growth shown yet but I’m not sure of the fertilizer and the amount. Thank you for all your videos. You are the BEST!!!!
