I am strangely looking forward to the new edition box. I never really managed to get the previous edition off the ground so it's more a matter of waiting whether the rules are balanced on launch. But even if that trend continues, most of the things in that box are very intersting to me. Plastic vespid are a godsend, given how the old Vespids are basically 4th Ed metal sculpts that were regurgitated in finecast IIRC. What's even better is that the redesign is more like Mark Gibbons' 4th edition codex art. The Aquillons are a bit meh since they could indeed have been Elysian drop troops as per some other comments, but I guess the powers that be don't really want to do the dozen elite guard regiments (sad Valhallan and Tallarn noises ensue). That being said, with some minor conversion they can probably complement my Inquisitorial Stormtrooper Kasrkin. The terrain might maybe be a bit bland, but it's not something I have a lot of and there is the benefit that polystyrene is easy to kitbash and convert into something that could look a bit more diorama-esque and is more multipurpose for both KT and BigHammer. The tl:dr is a lot of plusses and some hope make it enough for me to be very excited for this box.

I'm looking forward to the new edition. This looks like a good box. I hope the Compendium teams remain in the new edition with some updated rules. Bespoke teams are cool, but telling new players they can try this with their existing miniatures or an easier to find troop box is cooler. Learn from Warcry guys.

I’m already thinking about new teams for the upcoming season. Not only do the dispatches give us clues, but I think the original Chalnath book can too. It says in there that other than the Tau, Imperium, and Orks, the Drukhari, Chaos, GSC, and Tyranids are also involved. For the Orks I can see new Stormboyz or new Grots. For the Drukhari I can see new Wracks or Hellions. There could be a lot of things for Chaos. I’d like Dark Mech or Terminators, but it’ll probably be some kind of cultist team. For GSC I can see a Brood Brother equivalent of Kasrkin or Scions, or a brand new jump unit. For Tyranids I’m thinking Shrikes accompanied by Sky-Slashers. I can also see a faction’s jump units being added.

I'm mostly looking forward to the new season but I am praying to which ever Chaos God that will listen for my Hive Fleet Warriors not to get legended. Had some crazy back and forth games with them and I would hate to shelf them because of GW.

As long as they keep my bespoke teams I'm really hyped. One thing I dont get is all the shapes complaints?? Is a triangle really that hard? I dont care either way but I've seen poster say that passed on the game cause it had shapes?? Really??

@@jamesreed2475 i agree with the shape thing. Seemed overblown but this is a highly pedantic niche, so anger for the sake of anger is always a thing.

it just was a needless extra hurdle IMHO. For instance I could memorize the 20 nearly identical chaos star symbols for Warcry 1, but I wish they just used keywords. Similarly I could also memorise Japanese evergreen keywords to play Magic The Gathering, but I'd prefer to just use English It was always an extra needless step of "OK, now how far does this mean? where's my widget?" as a hobbyist who mostly likes to convert and paint but still went to play in 5-6 local events a year

@@Crushanator1 you do understand that the reason for adding colors and shapes was because some people with learning disabilities or autism do better with colors or shapes than numbers right? It wasn't just to slightly inconvenience you personally.

Very excited for the new edition. A lot of changes that support how I want to play KT. It will be especially helpful for getting my friends who are still new to the game to understand it better.

The terrain... BORING!!! Spending $200 on terrain you can just make yourself is only something the people who get suckered into buying GW products would do. I don't need GW for the same right angled nonsense that makes 40k tables the most boring places on Earth. Could have been interesting if it wasn't ruins and ended up being a taller version of the Moroch terrain. Something like a taller version of the nightmare terrain with alcoves to land on at different heights could have been awesome. Switching to inches... ... no brainer. The symbols are possibly the worst design decision I've ever seen in any tabletop game. Needlessly confusing and a total barrier to new players... for starters... Jump pack Scions... BORING!!! Not making these Elysians has got to be one of the stupidest things I've ever seen GW do. For the same effort they could have created a whole new Guard subfaction while at the same time sucked in older players who abandoned GW. Imagine the injection of new players having Elysian fans would bave added. Instead we just get the same old schlock we've had for years. The Xiticix (I will be really impressed if anyone gets that reference)... ... facepalm... They could have literally picked a flying unit from any other faction and instantly sparked more interest in this boxed set. Swooping Hawks, jump Phobos, junp Chaos, jump Orks, jump nids, pretty much any other faction. That all being said, if... if... if they streamline the game well enough this could be a huge improvement. Definitely looking forward to solo rules since Warhammer players are the worst people on Earth.

@MrRogalick No idea what KM is. I frankly don't care what gender they make any model as long as the models aren't proportioned like gorillas with Berzerk swords like the current Custodes are Cartoonish garbage.

@Crushanator1 Yeah, but the Vespids have always been garbage that no one bought. I used to work on the retail end of the business back then and they sat on the shelf in multiple stores in multiple states. I was shocked when they made it to finecrap.

I'm going to the GN in November and have some friends going to the world championship, and hearing the release is one month from the event (making it the legal play rules) makes me both a little nervous but also a great challenge

My big tinfoil hat hope is that the mechanic where the vespid go into auto-play mode is some kind of universal keyword they can apply to other new teams with different conditions for maintaining unit control. Aside from the obvious use with gaunts in a 'nid team it could also be used for some other neat stuff like necron warriors/flayed ones, world eaters etc. My reasoning is that they would need some relatively in-depth rules about how to resolve conflicts in the auto-activating and they would have written up stuff for that when creating the co-op mode anyway. I wonder if the Scions sentry drone might use the rule even.

These Kill Team Overviews are explained so well! My go-to to learn how to play different teams. Can you do a Pathfinder Overview? I can't seem to learn how to effectively play/understand their info

Potentially. The Pathfinders are a team my friend has. I'd have to get my hands on them. I'm sort of stuck right now between places and it's been rough getting stuff together to record. That's why vids have slowed a bit. There are a few teams I have still to go through, but I'll see if he's down to loan me the team for a bit. For the Greater Good.

Wow that scenario was pretty eye opening. Just played my first game yesterday and got rolled (and messed up a bunch of rules and we didn't even run the full ruleset). So many things I didn't consider while playing that I can grasp a bit better now

100% agree on the whole no hard reset for Kill Team 3.0. That would probably get me to go looking for a new game after all the time and money I've sunk into my current (and only 3 or less years old) Kill Teams. As for the new Dataslate ... I'm bummed by the re-nerf of Reanimation Protocols because I like Hierotek Circle, but I get it. Scout Squad seems like they got a huge buff with an extra 10 wound unit and an operative who crits on 3s for six damage. It's a little weird that a scout would get *worse* at stabbing things after graduating to a full on Space Marine, but I guess Scout Squad did need the help.

Can you command reroll 2 of your attack dice?

@@brotherjohn93 as far as the rules are written right now, command reroll is usable as often as you have command points for it during a turning point. Since there's no restrictions per action as far as I can tell, you can use it multiple times in a single action.
