I do the same for Vito springs (those are extremely tall springs, normal compressors don't have a hope of compressing them enough. I compress, ratchet strap them, then re-compress, then fit. Otherwise, you're struggling.

i wish you had a better angle (top down) when doing the cutting... also, you should use a pencil or laser pointer to point to where and what you're cutting... the bottoms of my wheeels look slightly different, so mayb that's the issue, but it's confusing what you're cutting...

Thank you for your feedback. You can probably find another video here on KZfaq with clearer images. Ikea do use two different types of braked castors so if your wheels look a little different then it may be you have the other type which can be locked off in a different way.

The last thing I need is for my office chair to roll when I'm trying to get up. I have osteoarthritis, unlike many of the commenters and video creator, so I'm so grateful for self braking caster wheels. And they do move when you get up, for those of you complaining. If you had debilitating arthritis, you might understand why it's so helpful.

Hi Clare, I'm more than happy to share the dimensions with you, I may even be able to dig out the CAD file from which they were laser cut. However I could potentially do one better. When I got them made there was a minimum order quantity & I'm pretty sure it was way in excess of what I needed. Given we're not too far away, I can have a look in my garage, let you know how many I have & perhaps you'd be interested in buying them? I'd only be looking to get back what I paid for them, which I'd need to look up 'cause I can't remember!

Not easily Lorna because of the plug on the circuit board inside the end of the straighteners, and if you did do it then (not that I am an expert in the use of straighteners!) but I think you'd find that because it no longer rotates, your new lead would fail quite quickly. I love to fix things and if I can do so without spending money then ask the better, but when I could buy a complete new lead for only £10 I felt it just wasn't worth trying to do anything else.

Adam I have the same problem on our granite house in Aberdeenshire can I ask you did you actually have to drill into the stone or just the mortar in between and if so did you just use normal masonry bits or something else? Many thanks for the video really helpful
@weekendswithadamthebloke3768
@weekendswithadamthebloke3768 Жыл бұрын
Peter, I'm glad you found the video useful. Just depending on where the brackets landed, some homes were in the mortar while others were into the stone (I think some of my stone is also granite 'cause it's chuffing hard!). Initially I was using my normal hammer drill & masonry bit but it was hard going, taking around 20 minutes a hole. A bit of research & I bought an SDS drill and bits & that went into the hardest stone in seconds, about 10 seconds a hole. I bought a Titon SDS from Screwfix, it's fairly low cost (around £70) but has one of the highest impacts around at 8J and it's worth it's weight in gold, one of those tools I wish I'd bought years ago. It has the added benefit of having a clutch so can be used with core bits too. Best of luck & let me know how you get on.

I would of made the brackets have bigger and made the holes adjustable so 10 mm bolt with 15mm movement up and down you don’t have to worry to much about levels then as you can adjust the rise and fall accordingly

There's always more than one solution to a problem. 10mm stainless steel material is a lot more expensive than 6mm and I wanted the fixings and the brackets to be as discrete as possible, it also means drilling larger holes into the stonework, more chemical resin etc. hence why I chose what I did. I did make the hole clearances a little tight in the brackets & if I was doing it again I would open them up a little, but there's always more than one way to solve a problem & I'm not suggesting mine was the right way, it's just the way I chose to do it when I had no previous experience to draw upon. Let me know how you get on with large holes & bolts.

Hi Matt, thanks for the feedback. No, is the answer to your question, I wouldn't risk it. The consequences of your spring coming out of place are far greater than the cost (& delay) of getting a new part.

Hi Mario, with the digital Scalextric you need to pair the controller to the car so the system knows which controller is to operate which car. Clear the track of cars and put the car you want to program onto the track beside the power base. Pause for a couple of seconds then press and hold the button on top of the power base corresponding with the controller you want to pair it with. The light corresponding to the controller will flash a couple of times. Once it stops flashing you can release the button and the car is programmed. Repeat for the second car with the other controller. I hope that helps and you have hours of fun with your son!

@@mariobergnini8897 Yes, it's easy to tell the difference. A digital car has a small optical sensor behind the brushes and a small circuit board inside the car which an analogue car does not have. You can buy a kit to convert an analogue car to digital. It's a small circuit board with the sensor and is quite simple to install but you do need to be able to solder.
