Dude- that’s a lot of work. The car will look great- I might have missed your reasons-but since You’re doing so much of the hard work- why not paint it? I prefer longer videos but it seems that you would get more traffic from smaller video shorts. Either way- I’ll be watching 😬

Hey! Thanks for watching! I absolutely agree. When I first purchased the car, I noted the inside of the valve cover was a nice shade of old and burned oil. My local BMW tech friend suggested an oil flush. I now change the oil every 3,000 miles and sent the oil out for an analysis until I replaced the rod bearings. Thanks again for watching!

Great video! Any reason why you put the rear spring adjustment perch at the top instead of the bottom? Just got a set of ISC's for my E46 M3 and their guidance indicates that the perch is at the bottom.
@thedriversapex
@thedriversapex 15 күн бұрын
Hey, thanks for watching. I'd have to re-watch the video. I think what I did was replicate the factory spring pad placement with one at the top and one at the bottom. The main reason for me was to help spread the force of the coilover's dampening and to soften the ride, which I suspect it has. The rear control arms can crack when using coilovers so a thick rubber spring pad or the Condor Speedshop spring perch reinforcement plates help. Thanks for watching and let me know if you have any questions.

I would personally wait till your smg gives you problems then change it. But your car has low mileage anyway so you got many years of mileage before u need to get too that point It’s a big expensive to do all OEM Not that I’ve done it As mines a manual from factory So why spend your money on a issue that hasn’t given you problems As yet And anyone who thinks differently is talking nonsense I bet if it was there own can they couldn’t be as quick to get it done considering the amount it will cost to get done properly. Your car your money Send it out and get it done professionally Done When it starts acting up
@thedriversapex
@thedriversapex 15 күн бұрын
Hey! Thanks for your patience. I could not agree more!! I really enjoy the SMG, if it has the CSL tune, so I am definitely not in a hurry to replace it. This is especially true since it is operating just fine. I agree, the cost is not cheap. I am probably looking at $3-4k to do it myself. I will naturally put a new clutch and anything else it is needs while upgrading the shifter (maybe a rogue engineering set up). So, I definitely need to save some money, but in the meantime, that money can be spent on the rear subframe reinforcement, which I will complete this fall. Also, that money would go a long way to updating the vanos. It seems to make more sense to tackle some of these other things. Honestly, I think I would rather have a CSL style carbon airbox. You have great insights and I appreciate you taking the time to comment. Thanks! - Tom

Thank you!! I think as long as the surface is prepped well, wipe down paint or in this case, remove all paint, it seems easy to move the vinyl around multiple times. We were surprised by how sticky the glue was. I’ll be removing the wrap soon to re-prep the trunk for the new color and I’ll be curious what it will be like to remove the wrap. Thanks for watching!! Car sees all the $#itty roads around south CA, they seek me out for some reason. And FTR my fiver's been airborne TWICE and coils came through w flying colors.

Hey, thanks for watching, though, respectfully, I’m not confident you watched it. I clearly showed in the video that the shock blew its seals, thus the fluid all over the shock absorber. Yes, the chewed up bump stop is a nuisance, but I thought I showed in the video that shock absorber was utterly destroyed. I’ll re-watch my video to see if I misrepresented the severity of the title. This was the second shock absorber I’ve blown so all four are now replaced. Thanks!!
