How long was the interview process before they offered you your job?

In my experience it was a very quick and smooth process for my first year teaching! Once I was offered the job from my school I had to do a second interview with our corporate office which was also super smooth. I might do a whole video on this in the future to explain more!

How does your district do the sight words vocab? How long do you give and how many words

This is something I choose to do with my lower leveled students that need extra practice. I have them printed in flash cards and we review them at the beginning of our small group time. Every once in awhile I will do a one on one assessment like in this video to see where each kiddo is at. I used the first grade words just like these when I student taught and loved them! I used the pre-primer and primer ones for my kindergartners as well!

What is your weekly reading/ELA instructional routine like? I'm also a new teacher teaching second grade and feel I don't get enough done in one day due to time management and preparation.

I can do a video about this! I definitely felt like this at the beginning of the year being a new second grade teacher. I quickly realized that a big part of my problem was that I was comparing what I was doing to what every other second grade teacher was doing on my team. This was so draining because I was trying to do way too many things each day and quickly started getting burnt out!! I knew I had to make a change and find what worked for me as well as my students, of course! I will definitely plan to make a video all about this because it can be HARD. You got this!! :)

How do you like the HMH Into Reading curriculum? I've never seen those big paper clips! I enjoy your short vlogs. Will you be staying in second grade for next year? Maybe you could do a video on plans for next year, not only what you'll be teaching, but what worked this year in your classroom and what didn't.

This is my first year using the into reading HMH reading curriculum but I have liked it so far! I definitely find myself pulling specific things from it each week and then supplementing in different areas. Thank you so much for the support!! :) The big paper clips are a game changer! LOVE them! I plan to do a video on my plans for next school year within the next couple of months.
