The base rule of a bowl should contain up to 5 ingredients should still stand, even though chili and nori have different special rules.

They are oriented differently because they are worth different amounts of points depending on how they are played. If you play a safety card normally then it's only worth 100, but if you play it as a Coup Ferre move they are worth 200.

There is a risk/reward to playing safeties. You can play it as soon as you get it and receive 100 points or hold it to play it as a Coup Ferre -- when served with the corresponding hazard -- for 200 points. In the meantime, though, it's claiming a valuable spot in your hand.

Once a player or team accumulates 1,000 points the game ends and the player or team with the most points wins.

Just to clarify, the Parker Bros. release of the game the rule was you needed exactly 1,000 miles. However, with the Asmodee release, which is the one we are covering in this video, it does say in the rules "1,000 miles (or more)."

Apparently some rules have changed. When I played it as a kid, there was a bonus for, I believe, being the first to reach 400 miles in a hand, and I also think the first player to 700 had the option to end the hand there. There is also a bonus for a safe trip, which I believe means no accidents, flats or gas emergencies.

I just bought this game for my kids for Xmas. They shortened the instructions book to four or five pages. Lol

Honestly, I enjoy playing with all of the expansions together. It just feels like a more adventurous game. The treasure Trove cards are a lot of fun to add more interaction to the game. Although when I play with younger players I leave those out. The only negative with playing with all of the expansions would be down time when playing with 4 or 5 players. But again, with the Treasure Trove interactions it isn't too bad. Hope that helps.

@@KirwansGameStore It does, thank you. I have spiders, last adventurer, and crouching tiger. Spiders I love, adventurer is great, and tigers/bees can be fun, but less essential than the others previously mentioned. I've held off on treasure trove and cutlass because I've read that the cutlass island can be hard to navigate to/ get away from quickly, and may not be worth the trip. And reading some of the treasure trove cards, some of them looked a little broken and could lead to some salty players for those who are new to the game. Though I'm sure playing them could be a very different experience, so with that said, do you recommend treasure trove and cutlass still, or are either of those expansions less essential /needed than the others?
