how do you prevent veering off to one side? I keep veering off to the left side of the wake (facing direction of travel)

That's by far the best, most comprehensive explanation of the Raley. The physics is accurate. Instant like and subscribe. Way to go! This should come first on the results page

So I’ve been doing mute grab 180 for this whole time and thought it was just a « Indy 180 » :D Also, I love the feeling of the melan while rotating, even more than mute!

This video isn't bad but it misses a few key details to good consistent pop. What works for me is to hold a medium edge toward the wake making sure both feet have 50% weight on them then at the bottom of the wake scooping my feet back to be straight and plumb (like a flagpole). If you do it right, you use much less energy and you transfer all of that lateral energy to vertical energy. It feels really strange at first and you feel like you might catch a front edge, but if you do it right you will gain twice the height and land perfectly on the second wake, as opposed to in the flats. Think: less edge, scoop legs back at wake and stand vertical.

I'm much more of a boat rider but I was at a cable down in Mexico and a local taught me a cool starting trick. I sat down and put my chin on my back shoulder (away from the cable direction), waited for the tension and let myself spin (sort of like a hs backroll). It works amazingly well. I tried first without the board on to make sure I would land with my feet in the water. Definitely worth trying if the line isn't too long! Easier than it looks and requires no timing, you just feel the tension and let yourself spin.

When a rider falls, I cut to slight throttle and make a hard turn to the opposite side of the wave due to the tabs in my boat that will naturally ‘spin’ the boat around as the large rollers pass. This is what the driver in the video did even though he mentioned to turn to the riders side. It’s actually turning the opposite direction.

Slownes or quickness has nothing to do with the release. In "slow" version here the board is never fully perpendicular to the line thats why force isnt "sprung" at full force. In "medium" he never lowers his back down to water thats why not at full force. Slow medium quick - thats bull crap.

Hi, thanks for your videos. Quick question tho, a release in a backroll, is it more like in a raley, meaning that I need to do a scoop with the forward leg? Or should I just put my board perpendicular to a cable direction and the magic will happen? Or should I push from both legs?
