I am of Scandinavian descent, and they were not called Vikings in those times, they were called Norsemen, the word Viking is what they did, it means raiding, so to "go Viking" ment to go in search of loot and slaves and to look explore for new lands to pillage, So if you were living in a English village and you saw them coming you would warn your fellow villagers by shouting "THE NORSEMEN ARE COMING" prompting them to flee or try to put up some kind of defense. But raiding was not their main activity, they were craftsmen and farmers, and were also meticulously clean and vain about their appearance, they were not the filthy sweaty scruffs portrayed by Holly Wood movies, They bathed and cut their hair and trimmed their beards, they wore cloths dyed with bright colors and wore gold jewelry and their women were adorned with all manner of beautiful fabrics and other riches from their raids, and they also did trade with other nations so it wasn't always blood, soil and grease all over them lol I guess anyone would be dirty and sweaty if they had been traveling over many 1000s of miles but even in their travels they tried to keep themselves clean, the battle field is always a bloody filthy place for any army. so they were a vain, opportunistic people and but also loving loyal husbands and fathers and wives and mothers, so this was their culture they had a civilization that was bar non in their day, they went around the world and founded what is now called Russia called in ancient times Rus, and they were just one of the Germanic peoples that inhabited the European continent all of western Europe at the time of the Romans was called "Germania"

She represents such a fascinating character. In all other circumstances the Leftist would deride her for being a religious nutball! She claimed to speak to angels. In a bizarre effort to pretend that sexual dimorphism isn't real, they have elevated her into something she most definitely was not.

This is incorrect because the Khan actually returned the cats using an early form of ballistae, from that point onwards such machines were called catapults

Craziest fact I can thing of is that WWII started because Germany invaded Poland. The USSR invaded Poland shortly after. At the end of the war, the USSR ended up with Poland, 1/2 of Germany and the rest of Eastern Europe. And only 85 Million people died for those total :poop: results. How anyone could call WWII, "The last good war" is beyond me.

the female samurai primarily did not use swords. they used naginata. because of how they used to do it was considered to be primarily a female weapon and the training of it is still around today. samurai were actually known as mounted archers well before they were known for using swords.

“Shattering traditional gender roles in the process” 😂😂😂 there were no “traditional” gender roles to shatter in the early scandinavian cultures. Viking society historically has been egalitarian, and besides child bearing all roles were shared equally.
