Hard to believe that a man who rambles as much as he does when explaining something or telling one of his long and overly-excessive detailed stories would criticize Black people and the way we talk.

Introduced to this album in 5th grade as part of class. But even to this day, the term: "The lights...are really gonna go out." keeps many an unruly person-regardless of age-from any further shenanigans.

When I was growing up I used to sit around the dinner table with my family and listen to Cosby's stand-up audio cassettes. Listening to him as a child gave me a sense of self awareness. An ability to view my own ridiculousness through my parents eyes and still find it humorous. Say what you want about this man and his allegations, condemn him in his old-age, but the fact of the matter is that Bill Cosby spoke hilarity/realism about family life for 2 decades, without cussing. I admire his work and the profound affect he had on middle class family. It's a shame about what he was accused of, but the fact remains that he changed so many of our lives for the better ("A Different World" etc) bringing to light racial issues and family values through his work and that shall not be admonished. I will forever admire this man for what he has taught us all, and not for the monster he was made out to be after his career ended.

I hadn't heard this since the late '60s. I was a kid back then, and my older brothers had this album. I listened to it so many times I could repeat most of it word for word, and probably still can. Funny stuff. As for the part about playing football for Temple and Hofstra supposedly being so fearsome, it's true Hofstra had beaten Temple the previous four seasons before Cosby's first season in '61, but they didn't exactly dominate them. Temple lost to Hofstra only by a score of 6-4 the previous season ('60). In the '61 game, which is possibly the game he was referring to on this album, Temple came away with the victory, 14-12. I have read that Cosby also played in '62 before at some point dropping out of college to pursue his comedy career full time. Hofstra won that game 19-10. I don't think Cosby played in '63 when Temple posted a lopsided 46-14 win. In reality, it sounds like the two teams were pretty evenly matched in those days.

I listened to it much the same as you when these albums were new in the '60s. I even recited Superman skit in first grade. I remember laughing so hard i was doubled over, crying. And i only just "got" the Midol bit, almost 60 years later. Timeless.
