then modern architecture happened. Never has such a high architectural water mark been reached since Edwardian times.

No we don't have ferris wheels anymore as a result. Also being the 1990s doesn't anyone remember the "american eggs" that did 360 flips?

It's not the 'brash, high-rise blocks' that are the problem, it's the detached houses in new developments.

Available as a BBC set of 4 DVDs. A complete joy, as ACT might say.

Lived in Stamford for most of my life and I'm a Collyweston slater so this film absolutely resonates with me! Have worked on several of the roofs featured in this film!

Threre were three series made, then Alec joined the choir invisible. Some time ago, the whole three series were uploaded here - then disappeared again - probably copyright issues. Nice to see some reappear again...

Stamford is my home town ( I drew first prize in the lottery of life there) and 10 years old then. I was unaware of this occasion until this appeared on KZfaq. Many thanks for putting it on. I have had two wonderful trips to New Zealand since and I would strongly recommend anyone from Stamford or elsewhere in the UK to do so.

Wow when William Wood's Rollover was a fairly unique Miami because of it's rolling seats on the bench-like gondola. Sometimes I would wonder why it wasn't a success and got converted into a standard Miami a year later in 1999?

This is one of the programmes on BBC television from several decades ago. It is marvelous that it has found its way to KZfaq. No other programme quite like it was ever produced. It is unique and every episode was a delight to view. Well done, Uploader of this episode.

This guy's been doing this for 20 something years and in his 40s and y'all still expect him to move the way Michael did 💀 have some respect, he still finds energy to put on a show. so instead of talking down to him, maybe keep quiet we all tire yk

I remember around that time the idiots were trying to get the car to go all the way round. I saw a pair of lads do it and get thrown off by the owners.

I’ve written a story that’s partially set in this location at this time, and I did a ton of research to make sure it was historically accurate. Interesting to hear Doop, a massive hit at the time! The characters I’ve created certainly would have attended this!

Having been brought up in Masterton Road, Stamford it is only recently that I found out the origins of the name of the road - a large gap in my local history knowledge which this film helps to remedy - thank you

Idiots!!! Someone should have told them off via the tannoy or shouted at them to stop swinging the car, now it's broken! Those guys could have died if that car fell off the structure, hope the car got fixed

Rides: Dodgems (don't know make or model), Children's Octopus Ride, John Wall Twist (I think), no idea what that ride is? Looks like a cross between a Miami Trip and a Zipper! Reverchon Explorer, Fabbri Tagada (I think), Great footage, that was the year I left school

seriously though, it's like 1990s had better ride selection than today! where's all the skymasters and rock-o-planes gone?? also, a zipper in the UK is like... wow!

I agree with you when you go to these big fairs now it’s like most of the rides and now duplicated why do you need 2 or more waltzers ???and how many large swing , bomber rides are they now ???
