Portland 2:1 ? Far too strong a mix if that's a building sand/cement mix.

Dude this is some seriously skillful tuckpointing and striking all in one. You truly save so much more on the cleanup, and even getting rid of the need to come back with a barrel striker. What I’m curious about is pop-outs if you don’t tuck the mortar into the joints fully so that it “seats” properly?

It looks like the old mortar was removed by hammer and chisel……. And not a grinder …..Was that the case ? ? And as you know your job came out awesome with no smearing on the vertical joints…….” Nothing on the brick “ great job

It took about 2 minutes to point of one brick. And without taking into account, remove the mortar, wash the wall and prepare the mortar. Simple maths: A wall 3 meters by 6 meters has approximately 900 bricks. 900 bricks multiplied by 2 minutes is 30 hours or almost 4 full working days!!! What employer would keep such an employee? What can he earn? Or is it just a hobby?

I learned a some of hawk and pointing tool technique. Thanks for the pointers. My old house has soft brick, so I have to use lime mortar. Very little if any Portland can be used. If I elect to use a bit of Portland, it has to be white Portland to match the original lime mortar.

Francis, if you did notice a bit of mortar say 12 to 24 hours later on a brick, how could you remove it? Would you use hot water and a stiff brush or something stronger like acid and water mixed at a specific ratio? Thanks!
@francissciarrillo8691
@francissciarrillo8691 2 жыл бұрын
Get muriatic acid and mix it with water 50-50 but if it’s break that just got laid do you want to give it about 5 to 7 days before you wash it
