You make a very poor case for Hell and for a God who could bring himself to torture someone, often for no more than not believing. You quote a text which says that Hell is reserved for those who refuse by their own free choice to believe, and I believe this is at the heart of the problem - because I do not think failure to believe something is a choice the person makes with their free will, but simply a state of mind of not being convinced because, after hearing anout it, they find the evidence or arguments put forward inadquate. I think that, if simply failing to be convinced by the church's teachings is enough to condemn someone to Hell for eternity, then that makes God more like a cruel monster than a just and merciful God as you claim. How is it just to torture someone for ever for nothing more than that they found themselves unconvinced by the message, and unable to believe it? Surely, if belief is really essential (and that is another topic I won't tackle here), the more just option would be to arrange for them to learn of the truth in some other way that would in fact convince them. For example, I suppose dying and then finding oneself in an afterlife and being confronted by God and Jesus would very likely convince anyone of the reality of things - but the church always expressly says it is too late one second after death to change one's stance. Again, if God has made it that way, I think that is grotesque and cruel, not just or merciful. I am not a Christian of any sort, and Hell is probably the main reason for that - as I simply cannot reconcile the doctrine of Hell with any kind of loving or merciful God. I've heard the church's message many times in different places, and debated it sincerely with people who are members of some church or group or other, and I am still not convinced by what I've been told. I cannot change that response, and don't see how it would be just to condemn me to Hell for something I cannot change about myself - that is, there is something about the way my mind works that seems to make me unable to believe the basic ideas behind Christianity. (I would be tempted to say the reason is simply that Christianity itself is nonsensical as a complex of ideas - but, for the sake of argument, I concede that possibly Christianity is true, but in that case there is something about my way of thinking that finds me unable to be convinced by it.)
@michaeledwards1172
@michaeledwards1172 3 ай бұрын
You mentioned that those who have heard of the church and its message, but reject it because they are not convinced by it are in danger (you don't say what the danger is, but it is clear from the context that the danger is of going to Hell after death). You make a very poor case on this issue, because you pass right over the fact that someone who hears the message and is not convinced by it is not making a *choice* to reject Jesus, but simply move on in their life because they are not convinced by what the church says - and not being convinced by somiething is *not* a choice one makes. If I hear of something that seems doubtful, and I find the evidence or rationale for it to be inadequate, then I am not convinced by the propostion I hear about - and I cannot help the fact that the inadequacy of the evidence or reasoning fails to convince me. It is grossly injust to condemn for ever someone who, through no choice of their own, are simply not convinced by the church's message. Actually, I would make a case against the concept of Hell anyway, considering it a barbaric doctrine, and I cannot see how a God who claims to be loving could torture anyone, no matter what they've done wrong. And that is another issue I sometimes argue about here and there. But here, I am focusing on the basic problem with the church's position that failing to be convinced is not a choice one makes, and it is not equivalent, as some claim, to rebelling against God and his plans for how things run.

ST. POPE JOHN PAUL II: The universality of salvation means that it is granted not only to those who explicitly believe in Christ and have entered the church. Since salvation is offered to all, it must be made concretely available to all. But it is clear that today, as in the past, many people do not have an opportunity to come to know or accept the Gospel revelation or enter the Church. The social and cultural conditions in which they live do not permit this, and frequently they have been brought up in other religious traditions. For such people salvation in Christ is accessible by virtue of a grace, which, while having a mysterious relationship to the Church, does not make them formally part of the Church but enlightens them in a way which is accommodated to their spiritual and material situation. This grace comes from Christ; it is the result of his Sacrifice and is communicated by the Holy Spirit. It enables each person to attain salvation through his or her free cooperation.

As a devoted Hindu and a non Christian, who loves Christianity like crazy, looking at New Testament Christianity objectively, my answer would be yes, because that would be the only way Christianity would make sense. Jesus maybe the only way, but that doesn't mean you will have to know about him and worship him in a conventional sense, perhaps living your life with compassion and self sacrifice for others, unconditional love for all other sentient beings (which doesn't mean pacifism) is the only true way to worship Jesus Christ the lord. Otherwise if one simply worships Jesus for heaven and avoiding hell, that's not a very honest and selfless way of worship. Following Jesus can increase you in morality, but if you are already moral, then you are already in the good sight of Jesus. I mean we need to understand who Jesus Christ the lord really is, he is not just a name and a figure, he is what he stood for and what he preached. Which is unconditional and self less love and bravery and self sacrifice for the greater good.

Oh, thank you so much for sharing LG 16. My heart has been distressed for my former student, whom I have met with, and kept in contact with, over the years. He was hit and killed by a car in Oman. I was not Christian when he was my student and we openly spoke about religion. He was a devote Muslim. When God entered my heart and I came to understand what Jesus had done for me, I prayed very much for the Arabs that I had come to love. While they have been misled, they are very obedient in their prayers and self-denial. My heart is broken at the death of this lovely young man and had I died just three years ago, I would have died without accepting Christ into my heart. I trust God and I know that He is just. It was very comforting to hear the passage that was shared.

Ask God to show you repeated numbers, like 1:11 11:11 2:22 on a clock. Ask repeatedly for repeated numbers to come to you and be patient. You will need 1. a heartfelt desire and 2. to at least believe a little that it's possible. What happens is for no reason, you notice the clock right at 3:33pm, or you find that you pause videos often right at 1:11 or 2:22. You can also begin to meditate, quiet your mind. When you speak, God listens, when you meditate, God speaks. You can also ask for songs to come to you. Often these songs will be ones you don't listen to often and suddenly you hear the chorus dancing between your ears. It comes to you as if "you thought of it", but it's simply God placing the tune in your head. If it's a song about love/loving, ask yourself if it could be from God, and say, "If that's from you God, Thank you. Please send me more songs to get to know you." Be grateful. If you suddenly hear religious songs that you sang as a child, or heard as a child--even if they are Christmas songs about Jesus, that's likely God calling you toward Him. I cannot emphasize enough that you have to believe it and emotionally want it. You can't just ask in a blasé way and then go make yourself a peanut butter and jelly sandwich without a care. God cares when you care. Good luck and God bless you.

And I don't think Christianity has and answer because there is a contradiction here in Christianity - the words of Christ saying the He is the only way to heaven, the idea of an all loving and all powerful God, the and that of the fate of millions of innocent men, women, children and even babies who have not heard of the Gospel of Christ.

Jesus didn't say he is the only way to heaven. He said He is the way, truth and life. This is particularly referencing to His sacrifice on the cross, defeating death and His resurrection pointing to eternal life. Every tongue will bow down and will know that, He's the way to eternity which is the next level than heaven. Those who don't receive Jesus during judgement, they will condemned to hell. Everyone will be judged and those names not in the book of life, will face the 2nd death. Those who has their name in the book of life will remain eternally with God in the New heaven and New earth.

Catholics don’t have the answer but true Christianity does. Those who are walking by faith today will be in the 1st resurrection. There’s a second resurrection for those who didn’t have a chance to accept Christ. False Christianity tries to say we all get a chance in this life and that’s absolutely impossible. If you keep the sabbath and the Holy Days you’ll see Gods plan for mankind . Ditch the Catholic faith it’s an apostasy .

Hello The Christian hope is not to “go to heaven” but to inherit the earth made new The gospel is the gospel of the kingdom! Jesus the Messiah suffered and died for our sins, God raised him from the dead and exalted him to his right hand! Jesus is going to return and set up the kingdom of God ON THE EARTH! God’s government on the earth! Believers will rule the nations with Jesus! We are to repent in light of this. The Messiah died for his people! God resurrected the Messiah! The Messiah will resurrect his people at his coming! They will rule the nations! The destiny of the Messiah and his people is to be on the earth! The renewed restored earth! God also dwelling with them! Rev 21 The New Creation Matt 24 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. Jesus said the Father is the only true God! John 17 3 And this is eternal life, that they know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent.

It was a more serious presenation than yours, I got the sense that he was very recollected before mass.

God wants to bring out our gifts to their greatest extent here on earth in order that his glory might be seen and our happiness fulfilled. This leaves room for us to accept or reject his grace over time, but he always offers it and wants to bring us to our greatest potential in grace. That road may twist and turn but as we choose him more and more that path with be a mysterious mix of him highlighting us as unique persons and leading us to our "destiny" or his plan. He sees time all at once so he knows what we will choose, but that doesn't mean that he causes us to choose them (free will). This can be an allusive distinction between knowing and causing, but I try to address that briefly in the video. Hope that makes it slightly less foggy :).
