That's the white gentrified pronunciation of it but it's pretty disrespectful to the culture from where the name is derived. Us Texans know how it's REALLY pronounced. The name means "Snow capped" and it's not AN ENGLISH FUCKING WORD.
@kingzach74Ай бұрын
It's a proper noun now that it is said the way the local say it supposed to be pronounced. You wouldn't want outsiders to call Texas Tehas or Tecans. It's actually not disrespectful to the Spanish because it's a proper noun name of a state and the state is pronounced as above.

Adam Nevada How do you pronounce Nevada in the US? Say "Neh-VA-duh". That is the correct way to pronounce the state name. Put emphasis on the second syllable. Pronounce it so that the middle part rhymes with the “ad” sound in the words "sad" or "mad." Compare "Nevada" and "Nebraska." The corresponding vowels in the two names are pronounced the same.

WHY Amtrak does NOT have train service to Las Vegas is beyond me. You can take an Amtrak BUS there...but no rail service. One would think, because of all the rail competition to service Las Vegas, even as early as the turn of the century, SOMEONE would be providing service there.
