I'm sorry that you were disappointed. Many of the photos included in the video during the list section are of the hybrids. I also included photos and video clips of the separate breeds which may have made the hybrids hard to spot.

My pomeranian is extremely lovable. Wherever we go, she comes with us. She's not a barker and she's quiet. If she barks, something is definitely wrong. Everywhere she goes, I am approached by children and adults asking me for permission to pet her. She allows it. My biggest problem is finding food that she will eat. She loves American cheese! But we found out it's not good for her. She has not had cheese for 3 days now. And she started to make a weezing sound. I am concerned about that! I was married at the age of 22 and my husband purchased me a shiatsu dog. And ever since then I have never been without a dog. When our children (2 sons were born and they were 3 years old we took them to pick out a dog that they wanted and were responsible for taking care of them! In fact my youngest son wanted a cradel he saw at toys are us. It was for dolls. But, he would put his dog in it and keep it next to his bed. The cradle had a mattress with sheets, a pillow, and a blanket that he asked grandma to knit! And she did! The cradle also had a lock so if you didn't want it to move you just put the lock on. There was always a Dog for each one of us! It actually taught my 2 sons to be responsible for their pet! And my Husband & I also had a dog. They were all well trained, and I believe my sons became responsible at a young age, because of their pet dogs!

It sounds like you have a wonderful Pom and family. It's true having a dog teaches kids so many things. OMG, the cheese love for Poms is real. Mine love cheese, especially gorgonzola of all cheeses. It is very high in calories and fat for such small dogs. We treat ours with just a little bit. A couple of my dogs will wheeze and "honk" occasionally which does concern me due to the vulnerability of collapsed tracheas in this breed. I also mention it when I go to the vet and they take a quick look to see how they are doing.

what shampoo do you recommend?
@allaboutpoms
@allaboutpoms 16 күн бұрын
There are many wonderful dog shampoos on the market that are free of toxins and parabens. Some of my favorites to consider are 4Legger (this woman lost a dog to cancer the day she was diagnosed with cancer herself, she became passionate about making a product that was free of harsh and dangerous chemicals), Vermont Soap, Earthbath, and Pure & Natural. All of these can be found at major pet stores and on Amazon.

How do you restrain a pom that has a collapsing trachea? It was recommended by my vet that a choke collar never be used on my pom. This is the reason I never take him to a groomer. And he gives me such a hard time when it's time to brush/trim.
@allaboutpoms
@allaboutpoms 23 күн бұрын
Only use a harness with your fluffy friend. You can restrain a Pom pretty well with that. For brushing you can put him in the harness on a leash so he can't run away and start brushing him in small doses. He may slowly get used to it. I have my vet trim my dogs nails when I go in. I made the mistake of not getting the used to me doing it. It's tough with a groomer. I know some may use harnesses or a hammock to restrain. I would check with them and see if it looks like it won't be putting pressure on your dogs neck. If they don't give you that information or let them look, go elsewhere. I great groomer that knows what you are concerned with will be willing to help you. It's possible to retrain a dog without putting your dogs trachea at risk, just be careful because the damage can be very serious. I hope that helps. Sara

If you neuter your males at such a young age, I expect them to never fully mature... in my experience over decades of all sorts of dogs, owned and just observed, it is important to let the dog 's brain mature before neutering him. Unwanted behaviour must be kept in check, of course, which can be done with training, but the males I have known that were neutered too early remained child-minded for their whole lives so one can never fully depend on the, to do the right thing. Any other experiences, please?
@allaboutpoms
@allaboutpoms Ай бұрын
I've only had un-neutered males or have waited a while to neuter them. The two boys I have now weren't neutered until at least almost two years of age. We only did it because they were started to mark around the inside of the house. One would do it and then the other would cover it up. This behavior did stop after they were neutered. I'm not sure about their maturity when it comes to their minds. I would love to hear others experiences too.

I'm sorry that your little bugger is so feisty! That can be extremely challenging. I would suggest looking for a local trainer or pet behaviorist that can help. You can also speak with your vet. Our Moxie can be a little monster sometimes especially when she was a bit younger. I've learned to stay consistent with how we tell her "no" in a firm way. I also try to avoid "triggers" when possible while she is learning what she can and can not do. A lot of her triggers had to do with my kids picking her up and bugging her when she wants to be left alone but, snippy behavior or growling for no reason isn't ok. I hope this is helpful.
@vickygillman1119

Thank you 🙏🏻 he sure is feisty if he was a bigger dog I would be scared of him I can’t put my hand in my bag nor can I leave the sofa without him going for me and he’s now taken to trying to grab hold of my legs when I try leaving the room. My neighbours have started complaining now as he’s just getting worse. I have ptsd from a dog fight which doesn’t help either I feel massively out of depth with him my old staffy wasn’t even this bad. I will be contacting a trainer today as I can’t cope
@allaboutpoms
@allaboutpoms Ай бұрын
@@vickygillman1119 He is feisty for sure. I'm hopeful that a trainer can help you. Have you had him from 8 weeks old or so? I wonder why he is responding in such a way? Thank goodness he is just a little guy. He is young too which is in your favor. Getting help now should be able to correct this behavior. My Moxie is now a year old and has gotten a bit better with age and constantly telling her it's not ok to bite and growl(not perfect yet). Good luck and keep me posted if you wish.

Thanks for the clarification about what is recommended. My Pom is 4yo and has only had her tush trimmed to facilitate keeping the area clean and of course her nails trimmed too. She has beautiful fur that is thick and shiny. The groomer wanted to do the teddy bear cut on her but I had read that it might ruin her coat so I have only had her trimmed as I described. Thank you again for the videos. I just love and appreciate the information you share!

We have a fear reactive pom. He was like that since we got him at 3 months old. Never went away with the fear, so we learned to be slow and predictable for him. He still has phases where he bites out of nowhere. 😢 But he's with us for 7 years now and is family. I wouldn't change him for another dog. But I won't get a new dog after him, it's quite too much work.
