I watched for a few minutes, but gave up when there was no explanation about the elephant in the room, the things on the dogs necks.
@LongleafSheepHillRanch-if9zz14 күн бұрын
Ah yes, the triangles. I think I explain later in the video. They are temporary devices to discourage tunneling under fences. Jackie took them off after a couple days after the dogs are familiar with the new area.

How refreshing to see someone who actually knows how to mow with a brush cutter. I get so frustrated watching these guys show us how to "mow" and then stick a brush cutter on a small tractor and mow crop that is as high as the tractor hood in road gear. They're not mowing at all but rather just running over stuff and pushing it over. After a few days the field will look like crap again. I am using an 8' twin spindle mower on my 76 horsepower Massey and I mow fields that are grown higher than my head but I put it in a low gear, usually 2, and take my time and when I'm done I have a field that I can be proud to claim I mowed. Nice job and good looking tractor and mower.

Thanks for your comments, I appreciate it. I still remember from quite a few years ago I was slowly mowing with my 60 hp open cab Fiat and an Alamo 8-ft cutter through some 6 and 7-ft high ragweed and goldenrod (what a mess) and all of a sudden a snake slithered across the hood of the tractor. What a surprise.

@@LongleafSheepHillRanch-if9zz 😱 Had that been me I would have probably destroyed the tractor and the mower getting off and away from that tractor

There's an easier way to cowp them than your way if you put your thumb in the side of the mouth but not where their teeth are as it takes the power out of them mate it works a treat and is a lot easier mate

Thanks for the tip, we'll give it a try. Thanks for watching.

What size Deere tractor? 6 series something it looks like.
@LongleafSheepHillRanch-if9zz2 ай бұрын
It's a 6120E John Deere tractor. A bit overkill for the stump grinder. In fact, I have to be very careful about the slip clutch on 540 PTO Implements, the engine power is stronger than the transmission drive train so that if all of a sudden the PTO Implement jams there could be transmission damage. Thanks for watching.

Always plenty of projects on a farm. I do like the multiple mikes. It's nice to clearly hear what everyone is saying.

Yes, lots to do. The mikes are working well, I'm still learning in some cases. Thanks for watching.

My dad lived in midland and used grits to get rid of fire ants. When he saw activity/ nest building, he would pour a circle around nest... not disturbing the nest. They take back to nest, feed to colony... the grits expand in gut and they blow up. Said 2 weeks tops, nest is dead.

That's interesting, never heard of that before. I'll have to give that a try. I hate dealing with all the poisons.

What? and why is that on the dogs neck? ty
@LongleafSheepHillRanch-if9zz3 ай бұрын
It is a triangle made out of PVC pipe. It discourages a dog from crawling under a fence and wandering where they shouldn't.
