Alan Watts mostly talks about zen Buddhism. But don't worry - all these things started in Buddhism, so I can see the confusion. It just predates Jung by about 2000 years

All right, my blanket and brick ideas mostly involved using it as a sling/swing. So putting it on a tree branch or ledge and using it as a hammock with the brick at the top of it or putting the brick on top of a bit of the blanket on a cart and using it to pull something, or tying the brick up and just waving the brick around in the blanket as an improvised mace. As for the rest of the video, I really liked it. I typically don’t dream that much but the nights I do the dreams can get very interesting. I once dreamed of a plane based cult. I wish I could remember what the leader was saying because it sure sounded convincing. Another night I dreamed I was in a limousine with a black E celeb who is encouraging me to get all my racial slurs out before big red carpet event. I am not sure whether he was trying to get them all out-of-the-way or insight heated gamer moments or if he was just powering himself up off of my slurs.

Solo RPG is a thing and you nor anyone can think your weird. If it was wierd, Solitaire wouldn't be so popular.

I was wandering through the foggy dimensions of KZfaq, just looking for any ol' playthrough, and I found Man Alone... your sense of humor is great, had me laughing through the whole video!

I (raises hand) also skip the part when the audiobook tells me to stop and write. 😂

I watched one other video of yours before this one (solo rpg). This wasn’t the video I expected - but I’m even more glad for that. Thank you for this video, there were several times I found myself getting extremely choked up, I think because of how validated I felt. Thank you for sharing.

Great video and better intro! I played regular rpg with a group from 1995 until 2007, give or take. Then had a massive stop because life happens and we could not meet any longer. I had a longing for it, so 2 years ago and after lots of research, I bought Vaesen. And completely failed to form a new playing group. I have been solo rpging for 3 months now, starting my third adventure. I felt rusty at the begining, after all the years of not playing, and being a first time solo player, but things started to get smooth, and now I have a blast. My best advice is: follow your gut, and enjoy. Just follow your gut.

Bingo - if anything solo play is an exercise in trusting your instincts about what you feel is right and wrong. So many things now are designed to pull you away from your instincts and toward impulse and indulgence, so much so that our internal compass becomes extremely messed up. Every time I try to "force" the story into one direction with solo play, it just gets overcomplicated and stressful. I know when I'm following my gut because I don't feel stressed

To be fair the custom dice in The One Ring is easy to skip. The D12 has a auto success symbol and one failure symbol. For the D6 the 1-3 doesn’t count when you have a negative status effect and the 6 is a success symbol.

I got burnt out outlining and learning structure so I'm using ttrpg to allow myself to play and learn about genre conventions. :)

Not played this myself but i have a go to method i like for similar games: -Mana pts equal to Intellect stat. -Roll INT to do magic. Reduce mana if succesful. -When out of mana. Health is consumed. -Crit fails cause backlash damage and burn mana -crit success, no mana spent and some other benefit. -no books, books are for librarians. No preparing, you can do all spells. - Only roll to cast if there is a threat, time issue or obstacle. Something like this anyway.

so glad i got to see this game played. Picked it up last year at a con and it got read but not played. I gotta remedy that now. Also, printers are always trash. Only one's I've had luck with are the ones at work that are hella expensive and get serviced regularly.

I'm really new to solo rpgs and I'm confused. If the solitary defilement supplement is supposed to adapt the game for a solo play, why are you having to also make all of these changes in order to make the game playable solo?

Regarding point 4 - I have heard solo tabletop gaming is an "indulgent" experience. I think a lot of playing solo board games, war games, or rpg games is really about enjoying the physicality of the objects you have.

3d6 for difficult, 4d6 for moderate, 5d6 good, 6d6 easy. 1 6 = weak success, 2 6 = strong success. 0 6 = weak fail, 0 6 any1s = crit fail. and the maybe the 2-5s are elaboration if you need it somehow. it's a little tricky to decide a more universally adaptable elaborations for 2-5s unless we look at numerology or assign an element or something which have broader symbolic meaning.
