This is so, so good, what an accomplishment. I normally don't find metal covers of OSTs very interesting, but when I was listening to the Bloodborne soundtrack today it suddenly hit me that this one had potential. Specifically, it hit me during the part starting at 1:52 of The Witch of Hemwick, I thought it was begging to be re-imagined the way you did it here (at 31:55). I listened to the rest of it with that mentality and some sections of Amygdala and Queen of the Vilebloods really stood out to me as being in need of the same treatment. I wouldn't know how to begin doing it so I was very happy when I found this, because for those sections this is exactly the kind of thing I had in my head as the "right" way to do it, and for all the rest where I didn't know what to expect, every choice felt just as logical and natural, even when they were surprising at first. I wouldn't have thought there was any way Ebrietas, for example, could be made to fit properly into this project, but there was a way and you found it. Somehow it all feels correct, like instead of forcing just any arbitrary idea of metal onto the soundtrack, you studied it and discovered the metal that was latent within it. So many metal covers fail at covering and at being good metal, this fully succeeded at both. This shit is damned educational, like it could be inscribed next to the original to form a Rosetta Stone for this kind of thing. I'll stop now cause I feel like I've laid it on pretty thick already lmao, but I mean it, this is really, really great work.

Hey, I know im always bugging you about small details, but I have to ask. How do you plan on what tuning you are gonna play? Here i understand that BC rich V is in B standard for rhythm and BC rich Warlock is E standard? And on your Midir video (my favorite) you are playing whole thing on BC rich V so are both rhythm and lead is in B standard? Every time i see cover video of game music I always wonder how do you choose the guitar tuning.
@JesperEkstal3 ай бұрын
Nah it's alright. I like talking about it haha 😄 At the time I made this I did not like seven strings. The neck is too thick, i prefer playing on regular six string necks. That's why I use one guitar in B and one in E. I need the range, and together they make a 7stringer. And on some stuff the tuning is something entirely different, because I collect guitars, some are tuned to C#, some D, etc etc. And Yeah on some vids i just used a 6 string tuned to B because I could make it work without the higher register
@infernaldeath22193 ай бұрын
@@JesperEkstal Thanks for the reply :) I'm still curious about your approach then it comes to tuning. How do you decide for example that this is E standard and Lady Maria is in D#? I really want to know if there is a reason for it or is the B/A# for rhythm and E/D# for lead just fits and you dont give it much thought.
@JesperEkstal3 ай бұрын
@@infernaldeath2219 I think the only instances I gave it much thought is when i needed a lower tuning than B/7string for the desired effect on the rhythm parts. Other than that it doesnt matter really. Nothing on game soundtracks is written for electric guitar, so the tuning on the lead guitars is of little to no hinderance. Compared to, like, covering a metal song, where you pretty much have to play in the original tuning.

You don't even need to credit Vivaldi. It is not by Vivaldi. It is a Spanish renaissance tune that has been ripped off for centuries by composer after composer, and Vivaldi was only one of them. If you claimed this as your original, you would be following the tradition. This is one special instance where you would be well within your right to just ... call it your own. Of course, professional standards and academia might be different nowadays and what you are permitted to do, still...
@refracia26 күн бұрын
It's vivaldi's version of folia my dear. Spanish tune is just 9 or less notes. These are variations which are made by effort and knowledge
