Nice job with the poly fibre. I've been experimenting with cheap/own brand chopped parsley for leaves. The different brands all seem to be slightly different shades of green, so you can get a good variety. Cheers

Good update here Dave, great progress on the scenic area you were working on, hope you had a good time at the show you went to, from the looks of It thee were some nice layouts there, accurascales 60 looks nice, I am after a new 60 as I currently have a hornby one but when I bought it it wasn’t in the best condition, while I do say accurascales is nice I am also looking at the upcoming cavalex one, to be honest I think I’m leaning more to the cavalex one because my 56s from them which I have recently fitted the sound decoders to have been some of the best models I have got this year and with the 56 being a great first loco from them it’s very fair to say that their upcoming 60 will be just as good.

Great video as ever Dave, and awesome work on that corner of the layout! Also, the accurascale class 60, even right now, looks awesome! I'm getting the coal sub sector one, as my late dad was a miner at, among other collieries, Seafield, in Kirkcaldy! What was your favourite layout from the show? There were quite a few ones I liked best, in particular the Studio tour, and the Japanese set layout! And, don't worry, once I have a chance, I'll be investing in a microphone for myself, to use with my camcorder!

Evening Dave, Bob here from the Black Isle. This might be a long shot but I've got to try. I've been trying to get my hands on an Accurascale Class 66 Prostate Cancer edition since I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer a couple of weeks ago but Accurascale are sold out and those on ebay are stupid prices. Then I remembered you did a review on it a little while ago. Would you consider selling it? I've been following your YT for a year or so since getting back into the hobby after 61 years out of it and even started a YT page last week to document my progress attempting to build a layout - Nomad Railway - As I say, it probably a cheeky request, but would you sell it? Best Regards, Bob Creamer (ex from Edinburgh but don't hold that against me)
@DeanPark
@DeanPark 10 күн бұрын
Hi Bob. I’m sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis. I wish you all the best with your treatment. I bought the class 66 prostate one as it’s a cause very close to me, having had family members being diagnosed and beaten prostate cancer. Therefore it’s a very special purchase for me. If you keep an eye on eBay, I’m sure they will start to pop up for sale. Best wishes. Dave

The Modelscene bushes look good, I got some recently for a new layout and not tried them out yet. the little scene looks good. Good advice on the cancer check up. Don't wait too long like my Father and find it is too late to be treated. I have the Hattons release bought mainly for my collection and glad to hear the faults are rectified because I was not very impressed with it after paying so much for a model that had a twisted chassis faulty lights and bits falling off, the replacement they sent also had some loose bits in the packing.

Few comments Dave, 66769 has a seven point handrail - the Hattons/Acc model only has floating details to represent that. The running number font on the cab is too large. The moulding around the light clusters is a bit suspect too, it shouldn’t have that lip, and it should have rivets between the LEDs. In general the nose end shape isn’t quite right - it wasn’t on the hattons tooling and Accurascale haven’t made any changes to rectify this. The same can be said for the exhaust on the roof, compared to the Bachmann example it is a lot wider leading me to think it’s the wrong shape. These are all things pointed out when the Hattons tooling came out, so it’s strange to see the Accurascale model get praised so highly when so little has been done to rectify the tooling discrepancies.
@DeanPark
@DeanPark 18 күн бұрын
It’s mounted to the cab at 5 points (two floating) and the other two are down at the light clusters. I can pick faults in any model, but as an upgrade from the hattons one it is a highly detailed and impressive model. In comparison to the bachmann model this hattons/accurascale model is far superior. Having spoken to Accurascale prior to my video, as I had a few queries on my own. They said that they rectified the issues that plagued the hattons one, but had to work around the existing tooling to a degree. You’ve got a few choices when it comes to the 66. Stick with the outdated Bachmann model, risk a second hand buy of a hattons one with all of its issues, buy a rail road one from Hornby. Or get the accurascale one. Or do without. For me, it’s the accurascale one as it was a charitable version. I didn’t claim it was perfect, but it’s (so far) the definitive class 66. Maybe Bachmann will surprise us and retool their one.
@nickg2762

Just studying this now as I am building some office buildings, absolutely fantastic work Dave. I work in IT but my era is before mainstream computers so I am also thinking of modelling some VDU's attached to a mainframe. I think that larger machine that you have on a desk could be a Telex machine? I'm also considering orange carpets like the old RBS building in Kirkcaldy High Street!

Cheers! Glad you like it. A organs carpet is essential for pre 1980’s offices! Scale model scenery do printed carpet tile sheets that I used on my office. They do an orange option!
