P.S. on this one I used SS 30/30 for the main, I think my harmonies were SS 35/35, and for the chorus, I added another layer to the melody with the bounce filter (I forget if that one lets me pick settings). You have to forgive me, I have undiagnosed ADHD and I don't remember details very well. I just mess around after I record until it sounds right.

Hello Ma'am, Awesome singing! I have question, I just bought Maonocaster E2 as my sound card for my Shure SM58 but I'm still not satisfied with the output vocal quality, although the noise cancellation is amazing. I'm thinking of purchasing iRig Pre2 for my SM58 and I'm wondering when we recording in Smule, do we hear what we sing and the music from Smule too? I searched online and found some people claimed that they can't hear Smule base sound. I need your advicd please? Thank you so much!
@rebekahs472
@rebekahs472 2 ай бұрын
Yes, I can hear the music from Smule, I have my headphones plugged into the irig pre2, and the headphones wires from my irig are plugged into my phone (I needed to buy a headphone jack adapter that plugs into the charging port with my current phone because it doesn't have a headphone jack). I honestly haven't played around with it enough in the couple years I've had it because I found a setting I liked and I've kept it there. Personally, on the side that says Gain, I set it to 6 and where it says " OFF ON 48V," I choose ON. And on the other side, I turn the direct monitor on and and also have it set to 6. The green light on the front lights up, but not the red (that would turn on if I moved it to 48V on the gain side (not sure what that does though). I haven't messed around with the numbers to know it is the best it can be though. I do know that when I sing Smule Live people can't hear me too well and my volume has to be higher than most people when I join group songs. But the quality is so much better than my phone mic and it doesn't pick up too much background noise which is nice (just sharp or really loud sounds) I also know that if you use higher gain, there is more static that shows up on the recording (but you can also hear it better through the headphones). Sorry not more helpful but you might want to mess around with it and find the best settings for you. If you'd like, message back and tell me what worked best for you if you end up getting it. Good luck and happy Smuling!!!!

@@rebekahs472 Thank you so much for sharing about your settings. I'm still amazed that your voice could be as sharp as how you sounded when you used the phone mic. As for my case, when I try to sing, I feel that I need to sing with a bit power to get that sharpiness and that would make me effortful to get the result of how I used to sing on the earphone. Yes, it's a dynamic mic but I think you sang so effortless in this video and with the distance between your mouth and the mic, you still have that sharpiness and I could even hear the echoes of your vibrato. Did you have the sound effect on such as Super Studio while you're singing? Or you sing it raw and decide afterwards? May I know youe setting on Smule? I'm trying to look for good settings that could make me sounds as natural as possible at ease. Also, are you monitoring from your iRig Pre 2 or directly from Smule? I turned off mic monitoring on my soundpad just to hear the mic monitoring from Smule but it has a bit latency which is giving me a bad singing experience. Your advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much in advance. 😊
@rebekahs472
@rebekahs472 2 ай бұрын
I'm not sure what you mean by sound card because I'm not very technical. The irig is plugged into my phone and the headphones are plugged into the irig. I hear everything as I'm singing through the headphones. (I don't know if that is technically from Smule or the iRig (I'm assuming both??? Not sure, sorry I'm not very techy.) Most of the time I use Super Studio on Smule, I vary the settings for different songs and honestly I don't remember my settings on this one but usually it's SS, somewhere between 20-35/20-35.
@Doopye

@@rebekahs472 Ah I see, The sound card I meant was the Maonocaster E2 that I bought, it has preamp in it which powers the SM58 so we can use it to sing just like iRig Pre 2. I’m assuming you’re hearing both because we can turn mic monitoring on / off from the iRig Pre 2 itself or from Smule. You can make sure by checking the volume button when you’re singing in Smule, for example I usually set mic monitoring in Smule to between 70%-80% when I’m singing. I think I’ll have to learn to setting the gain and adjust the mic distance. It feels super different when we sing with a dynamic mic as I’ve been singing on Apple earphones for like a years since I joined Smule. I will still consider on getting iRig Pre 2 sometimes soon. Thank you so much for letting me know about your settings Ma’am. 😊

I think I understand now. I have an android (Pixel 7A) but the iRig Pre2 can be used with it, which is awesome! I haven't tried anything else. I had a Shure SM58 for my live performances and decided that it'd be cool to sing on Smule with that mic too. Then I realized I could and that was that! You are most welcome!

First off, MEE YIGHTY FINE girl ! Ya got the low sultry voice timbre rockin, as well as the PWR house in your emotionally charged delivery. Its UNREAL your peforming THIS classic because Ive searched this regularly for the last 4-5 months and hardly ANYONE does it?...BOTH takes sound good BUT?...."without mic ", their "seems" to be ZERO compression being used, which the small amount of FX (hall or plate reverb?) will NOT be dynamically enhanced....NOW.... WITH mic,YES, I "feel" the 3 to 1 OR 4 to 1 ratio of compression PUMPING, smoothing out the peaks in your WAV form. Sounds like ya have a pretty fast "attack release time"???..THUS, ya get a bigger AAAAAAAAAAA response from the FX, AND the high feq response , 7KHZ-14KHZ is MUCH more "smooth" (less brash... in your face)...Now, IM just basing this on exp, using very OLD software, and yrs of "analog" tape exp,... THATS what I "feel" and hear... OMG! I know NOTHING about these new apps like smule, wesing, etc, and how much "personal control" you lady's have in editing the parameters LIKE FX , chorus, compression, vocoder etc. It would be a HUGE asset to sit down some day with someone like you and have ya walk an old boomer thru the 21st...LOL..I still do editing a VERY 20th C way, which is TIME consuming , BUT, I end up gettin the "vintage" result Im after...If ya dont care, PLEASE share, IF these are presets you can demo till ya find one ya like? OR do ya actually control the seperate parameters LIKE : COMP=Threshold/ attack./release AND types of VERB = HALL, PLATE CHAMBER, DELAY in milli secs?....If your quite busy , I understand ... Thanks! I came here to HEAR your Heads NC . tails CALI.. See ya there!

So, I just love to sing. It's just a hobby of mine. On the Smule app, it lets you choose the FX and then the reverb character and amount of reverb. I just recently started using the iRig pre 2 and was so excited about how it sounds. I'm not really sure if I picked the right settings as I'm just learning how to use it. I feel like you have much more knowledge about these things in real life (vs an app) and I am not sure I can answer your questions. But I'm really glad you enjoyed listening. I love Pat Benatar!!!!!!

@@rebekahs472 Hey! ...ya did great answering what I was curious about. THANK YOU! ..Yeah, its UNREAL all the editing you can do to a vocal track to make it "sit pretty" in a mix...Its almost TOO MUCH... right?..lol...Your settings "here" felt great to me. Smooth yet punchy and cut the mix very well Also had a nice cohesive cushy blend. Be sure and REST those ears periodically while mixing artifactual parameters. They will LIE to ya, if fatigued..LOL 😇
