The engines (which make the noise) aren't made by Airbus or Boeing. Duh! Both Airbus and Boeing use RR and GE engines and neither manufacturer's engines are significantly quieter than the other. If that were the case all customers (airlines) would favor one engine choice over the other. Rolls had a 52% share of large engine deliveries in 2022 versus GE's 47%.

More or less a function of the bypass ratio (the ratio of air that goes through the fan but not into the core). Newer engines tend to be higher bypass, therefore quieter. Also more efficient as increasing the speed of a large amount of air a small amount is better than a small amount of air by a large amount. On a short flight like this, they'd be using a high flex temperature, which means at a lower power setting, so that would reduce the noise too.

Iberia fly the A350 between Heathrow and Madrid daily.

I did book 22L. But thanks to a runway switch it turned out ok in the end. Plus I complained about my seat change and got my booked seat refunded.
