This is the video that made me get Hikari to Yami no Daikessen for the GBA. I remember being so sad that Special Attack Force was the sequel to this game. I was confused by the story and why none of that was in the Anime that aired on Toonami, after I saw this I knew why. You sure picked an interesting game for your first NES RPG.

I played this version a while ago and levels definitely do matter. After getting stuck, I went to grind to floor 10 for a few levels and she was pretty easy to defeat after that, mostly because her hits stopped being as dangerous. My strategy was continuously recasting Revia as it ran out to score extra damage (it works when she makes you lose a turn) and normal attacks while healing with items. I didn't bother with anything else but I think I used Bayoen once when there was too much heat before healing. It took a while but she went down easily.
