Would you say this would suck up some plaster dust let’s say 30ft(10m) away if there are some pvc ducts attached to it?
@breakingwavecustomwoodwork86833 ай бұрын
It wouldn’t work great as a vacuum but it would pull light dust away. The fan has a good bit of power to it.

I made some beeswax/coconut oil polish. For my one-and-only wood spoon. I had some beeswax left so I added it, making a much harder wax. Spoon shines much more now. But I also sanded it with 800 sandpaper... And I polished HARD!

@2265575476 ай бұрын
I think your material prep is to blame. Try it with planed or unsanded (just sawn) endgrain, where the holes are not plugged with sanding dust. You could also do it with a vacuum, letting the wood soak wax when the air is at a lower pressure, then atmosphere would push the wax inside. You could use an immersion circulator and a vacuum sealer (sous vide) to achieve this

One thing nobody seems to mention is that mineral oil does have an expiration! It has a shelf life of up to 3 years. I always put the expiration on my jar to be on the safe side.

I literally never EVER comment on KZfaq vids. Might be the second comment ever ahah. Ive just started making chopping boards and sold my first today ($100) 😍 anyway. Its great to see as others have said. Its simple, effective and you explain it well. Isnt mega complicated like every other jig on youtube. Appreciate you. Earned a sub. (I will eventually save up and buy a router ahah. Good luck to all reading, we got this. (Also if curious i sold mine on fb market place. I advertised it at $5 a day and sold on second day. The more eyes on your product rhe better) love you all. Goodluck. From Australia

Plunge your router down in the middle of the groove then go back and forth to each stop. This will avoid the tear out.

I have two of these in a piece of wood that the window closes down on. So I can use it when I need it and then stow it and close the window. Working out of a two car garage and the dust gets crazy.

From your example it looks like it only has the power to suck up things that are close to it.

I’m mostly concerned about particles 1 micron and less as these are what will get in your lungs and stay there. They are basically microscopic and will get sucked out. The bigger stuff will settle around the shop and I can sweep it up/vacuum it up.

Thanks for making this video. Came here in the exact same position as you - looking at a Diablo Laminate speciality blade from the US to IE. Surprisingly even with shipping and import it works out economically. Only concern then being 5/8” to 30mm conversion. Not sure I’m as brave as you however (or know a CNC mill in Dublin who’d take this on) 🤣🇮🇪

I know this is an old video, but I couldn’t help but thank you for taking the time to show up close the consistency of each of your mixtures. There are so many videos about how to make it, but I couldn’t find any other than yours that actually showed what the results looked like up close. This really helps in determining what ratio one might want to use on their own. Again, I really appreciate it.

Good video. Couple of questions: 1: Do you rip the entire board, if so how do you deal with the last inch or so of width. No video I have watched ever addresses this point in the process which I think is more important than cutting equal strips. Second: During the first cut I saw the board want to climb up above the table/blade a little. Would a stop block of sorts clamped to the rear of the fence above the board be a good idea to prevent that or not. Thank You...
@breakingwavecustomwoodwork86839 ай бұрын
The stop block would be helpful. As far as the last inch or two of the board, I just use the momentum I have in pushing the board through and give it one final push as I get to then end. It sometimes leaves an imperfect end, but I generally cut longer than I actually need.

Looking back on this video did you see any difference? as in maybe Carnauba lasted longer or a heavier oil mix kept boards looking fresh longer?
@breakingwavecustomwoodwork868311 ай бұрын
No, I haven’t notice any real difference. I haven’t been paying that much attention either. If there is a difference it would be marginal.

I have a question. I have a 12’x10’ workshop. I have a record dx1000 which is great for the larger sawdust from my band saw and bench top sander but the fine dust is bothering my lungs. I have been looking at a filter system and came across your video. Common sense that an extractor would work. My only question is…..Is there much dust deposited outside? Thanks for the great idea.
@breakingwavecustomwoodwork8683 Жыл бұрын
Not much dust gets deposited outside. It does collect a little bit on the edges of the window, but I’m not bothered by this. It is fairly windy where I live which may help, but the dust being extracted is really fine, so it just blows away. Also my shop is on the 2nd floor so I think that helps the dust to travel further away. Thanks for watching.

Hi, in my opinion, the wax will penetrate the wood fibers when it cools in the bath. This is because the air inside the wood contracts and sucks in the wax. You could see the air escaping as the wood was heated, and this pushed the wax out.

Won't it suck all the heat out in the winter?
@breakingwavecustomwoodwork8683 Жыл бұрын
It’s always mild here, winter is like 50F today was 40F, and summer is 70F. I bring my glue ups into the house over night if it real cold. But yeah, if it’s cold where you live it will suck the heat out. Read through the comments on this video, there was a guy that recommended a similar product that uses a heat exchanger and returns a percentage of the heat leaving.
