One of the greatest benefits of a Bengali born and bred in Calcutta is to get to enjoy, learn and watch the great maestros so much closely and really feel and get lost in their realm. I watched Ali Akbar baba closely and also Pundit (RS) ji every time they visited Calcutta. Wish a branch of AACM remained in this music-hungry city. OM.

Baba allauddin is the achievement of human race. He was a divinity personified. The barbaric fanatics cannot understand his vision and pursuits

Raag Patdeep is equivalent to Gowri Manohari in the Carnatic Music while Raag Maduvanthi is called Dharmavathi in Carnatic Music . So, both Ragas have a common bonding within the Indian Classical Music System.

Good idea (among others): R-S/do-re "period" as a downward trill.

Is this Raag another creation of Ustad Ali Akbar Khan? I've never heard of it before.

The great format of the Gaudbani Dhruvpad of Senia Beenakars are the tool by which you can unfold the mysteries of the Raga notes, provided the structural scheme the format is duly dissolved in one's self. Oh ! all the time thine bring out something so precious to the Raga world to be listened and enthralled again and again

I also learned this raga from my guru - a disciple of Pt. Ravi Shankar - and also from the famous rendition by Pt. Nikhil Banerjee. This presentation is right up there - and has some innovative phrasings - very pleasing to hear! PD D D PDPND PM MPG, GM~R R S!!
