It was so good to see Eddie Wood visit with Dale in this race recap. I agree with Dale Inman regarding the inability of these new race cars to pass on these tracks. A lack of throttle and horsepower allows this aerodynamic package to so often limit the passing for the lead positions. That along with the fuel saving strategy in which these cars just run nose to tail lap after lap, is creating some boring racing. And he is exactly right about the guys running in the back of the field being much more aggressive on the track. A lot of passing attempts gone wrong, with cars losing their downforce and spinning into one another. When the wind is taken off these cars by another car tightly running next to them, they are as good as in the wall in front of a bunch of other cars. It is a shame that this Legacy Motor Club bunch can’t seem to move forward with some solid finishes. If they can’t put a better #43 car under Eric Jones, he is as good as gone to another team. He has a lot of talent, but the #43 ride has nothing to offer the competition on the track. And JJ was once again a disappointment in the #84 car. He sure doesn’t drive like a seven time NASCAR Cup Series Champion. Maybe now, at this point in his career, he should just focus his efforts on making improvements in his race teams. I appreciate the insight that Dale Inman and Eddie Wood provided in this episode.

Dale, I would love if you could elaborate on why the torsion bar / leaf spring 'chrysler' platform would have performed really well at Indy? Thanks!

Made me smile and a little more! Bet driving that was a full body moment, and made you think about what you were driving in your day. I'm way closer to your age but loved to watch the early 80s racing until about 2000 when I quit watching. I did the Petty experience, at the lowest level, in Vegas 20 years ago and hit 136, which was only slightly faster than what I've done at 2am on 95 in Georgia 😬 But the sound and the feeling can't be matched! Thank you to your family, ESPECIALLY THE KING, for all you have done through the years to keep people involved in motorsports!

Not sure if its the same car because Petty had more than one but i saw one he had destroyed that had been rebuilt correctly and endorsed and autographed by Richard Petty. I dont remember if it was Barett Jackson or the other big auction line but the top bid was ten million. The owner said no thank you i will take it home ,if you want the car its closer to 25 million.

My biggest regret in life is totaling my dad’s Plymouth Superbird. It makes me sick to my stomach thinking about it. “Growler” was like a family member. My sole motivation in life is to make enough money to buy him another one.
