I love how she praises Grant for being self aware and just sticking with the romantic lead personae. Then in the next sentence she criticizes Burt Reynolds for not making a better effort to be more frazzled in his films…

Just got The Cotton Club The Encore on Blu-Ray ; much better film ,than when I saw it on the big screen in 1984. I still Love this film. Concerning James Remar role, probably one of the all times best gangsters I've ever seen . Their was a book on the Cotton Club that I had read in the 70's & I thought to myself than what a great film this would make...!!

This lady is so rude, unprofessional and utterly lacks tact, manners and sophistication. She would be that party guest who would wait until the middle of the evening to point out the stain on the carpet that the host had spent days fiendishly trying to get out before 200 guests arrived. We’ve all been subjected to them and their crass comments at the most inopportune moment.

Spike, I know you’re not crazy about the Italian subculture you grew up with. But you nailed that culture fair and square here, and gave a great cast a chance to do some A-list acting. Setting the smaller stories against the bigger backdrop of the Son of Sam killings is perfect: its insanity sums up an era. I think the movie is a masterpiece; much respect to you.
