Those are oil cups for starting. You pull the plungers, fill them with motor oil then push the plungers down to squirt the oil into the intake ports. It helps raise the compression on a dry engine that hasn't been run in a long time.

hi , now i know that the ports are for i have done a bit of googgling , lister supplied some of these engine with plastic cups that screwed into the ports that you could fill with fuel oil to aid cold starting , many thanks for passing on your knowledge , as my engine is a good starter i will just cap the ports with grommets . top man

Thermosyphon .. a large tank of water above the engine height, cold water flows into the bottom of the cylinder head, gets heated and flows up out of the top of the cylinder into the top of the open tank. When the whole tank of water gets hot, the water evaporates as steam which increases the cooling effect.....you just need to top up with water every 24 hours or so.... you can tap into that heat say to heat your house.....

Nope it's running at 60 Hz. I just got done adjusting the governor last time it was running.

@@bigchevy80 That's interesting. It sounds exactly the same as our Lister ST2/BKB 6.5kVa generator at 50Hz. I think we need to recheck ours to see that it hasn't crept up by a few rpms. Keep up the good work. It's nice to see these old Listers at work outside the UK.

I had it running right before making the video, but before that it hadn't run in a couple months and fired right up on the first crank. Great little engine.

@@bigchevy80 Did you attach it to the generator head? Looks like an engine from your previous video. I like the idea of buying small diesel engines from marketplace and i've done it before because they are quite neat. Then I wonder what to do with them. A generator seems like a good use.

@@nicksnextproject535 yeah this engine was the same one from the earlier video. The generator head and base are from one of the 3 big Listers I hauled home last year. You can see the other two in my older vids. This one had an ST3 engine on it that was junk.
