Roll With the Changes has always been one of my favorite riffings and solos songs. He was all over the place on that one, and I don't mean all over the place in a bad way, like... reign it in dude, you aren't making any sense. I mean it in the best imaginable way possible like, he really made that guitar his bitch on that one. Even during the singing parts, Gary stood front and center. His other recordings were fantastic too. I was like nine or 10 when that song came out, and even then I couldn't believe what I was hearing. The world lost a really cool guy and a very talented musician when he passed.

I think it was because YES has Billy Sherwood who was there but there were politics.regarding the YES RRHOF thing. Geddy even asked Billy why HE wasn't doing it.

Among the times i've seen kansas live, I got to see them front row on Long Island in NY twice. In small venues.. Once with Steve and once with Ronnie. The show with steve was at westbury music fair. Phil's rody had his sticks set up on a table right in front of me. Before the show, I asked where I could buy them. He told me online and some music stores. After they played their first 3 songs, Phil needed new sticks. And his rody handed me the sticks he started the show with🤗 Which he signed for me after the show.👍 The second front row at the Paramount. My daughter had bought me the tickets for my birthday. Strangely we were The only ones in the front row.. and Ronnie was literally singing right to us.. One of the best shows ever🤗👍2019. We moved to Georgia, and we'll be seeing them here in Evans In november.. Can't wait..

Gary really was a remarkable talent and his guitar work was essential to the success of REO speed wagon. After year’s of excess alcohol consumption one’s liver function often gets compromised and causes the weigh gain and puffiness. The band put him out on the street. Too bad he couldn’t get the lasting treatment he needed. RIP Gary

You alluded to Richrath expressing that he wanted the band to go back to the style they had in their early days. Sorry, but if my band went from playing amazing rock songs to the crap they did in the '80s, I'd drink myself to death too. Of course, that's the stuff that made them the most money, which isn't surprising. This is why the music industry eventually devolved into pure corporatism where all songs sound pretty much the same and corporate executives and the CIA dictate how songs are written and performed rather than any so-called "artist". Rock and roll is dead.

Big Richrath fan. He and Joe Walsh were only two of favorite guitarists growing up in the 70s. There are too many to mention.

Maybe alcohol was how he dealt with the problems in the Band...not saying it is ok to be a drunk..but unless you know the truth of how the band was doing...day to day stuff..you are looking at bits of stuff..that isn't the whole facts....most bands go through the Power stages of who controls the band and sometimes they are different off camera... saying you watched a clip of Kevin acting " Nice " while Gary mentions he wants " conditions are right " tells alot actually... now..do i know either person outside the band performing..No...but i like to listen and not pick sides without being fair... 🇨🇦🤓🤟

Cetera was a brilliant bass player and one of my biggest early influences on the instrument. His singing in concert was superb. I Chicago live eleven times, and I was always in awe of the band, but particularly him and Terry Kath's guitar genius.

I was and still am a huge REO fan. I live in southeast Ohio. Midwest where this band cut it's teeth on the big stage in the 70's. It's very sad what happened to Gary but Kevin did have a less hard rock and more radio friendly mindset but that is where the money is. So I can't blame either or.
